Initial Creation Date: Oct. 24, 2020

Description
I can see us having Smith buried to claw back at the 1.1M of cap space. Unlikely using it to sign any FA and I wouldn’t mind seeing this line up or something close to it for opening night and the first few weeks to see how it goes. As the season goes on I could see us either bringing in some other rookies half way through the season or saving as much cap for a TDL acquisition. Many and most teams won’t have much wiggle room so to have 2-3M in extra cap space and with some bonuses not possible for some players this should give us the freedom to add at the deadline. A good time to potentially move the remaining smith contract also.

I’m not sold on our center ice and defense. Gorton has done absolutely nothing to address our Center issues. All the credit he gets is concerning.

He hasn’t done much I agree.. not much room to do anything this season with 13m in buyouts and 10m in bonus.. hopefully Chytil improves and I feel this is their main hope for 21/22. The D, just need some time to stagger the prospects up and maybe buy a solid stay at home soon.. I’d like to see ekhlom signed

Well I’m referring to the whole picture. This team has Zibanejad nearly entering his 30s and the only other Centers he’s acquired through trades and picks don’t project as top 6 centers.

Henriksson: 3C
Howden: 4C
Barron: 4C
Chytil: 3C
Andersson: Bust
Strome: 3C
Spooner: 3C
Vierling: 3C
Rempe: AHL
Tarnstrom: 4C

Ya, Lias was likely supposed the be the guy...bust... well we will need to hit the FA next year or the year after. Hope for the best with these guys this season. I could see us going for getzlaf at tdl if we are in a playoff spot

Getzlaf will solve virtually nothing. He needs to get a young center with top 6 potential. Nobody is giving those up. I hope Braden Schneider was worth it because he could’ve easily patched that with the #19 pick but I guess he needed yet another defenseman. Pathetic.

Getzlaf is a rental. Not long term.

I think the Braden pick was 1/2 for the D minded D man and 1/2 to stop NJ from picking him

That’s very poor strategy to improve their roster. Lets take another defenseman so NJ doesn’t take him. He needed a Center. That was the best chance to take one. He obviously whiffed like he always does.

Im high on Barron, I can see him turning into a Jordan Staal type player.

He’s the worst skater I’ve ever watched. Defensively responsible is all he’s really got going for him. He won’t be more than a 4C.

Must not have been a hockey fan for a long time cause the worst skater Ive ever seen is Georges Laraque.

I’m obviously using that loosely but he’s not very good.

He’s not coming here. I’m not holding out hope for such risky quick-fixes that are bound to be blow up in our faces. I’ve seen some fans actually willing to give the Blackhawks their heinous ask for a $10M veteran center. Gorton needs to develop a top 6 center. He’s failing right now.

We are still in the rebuild, at the end of it but I don’t expect to win the cup this year. Good to know that 29 other teams are failing too

Overreacting here. He wasn't just preventing another Scott Stevens decade dominance again, he wisely approved that great pick. The guaranteed Cs were gone by then. You don't pick by present needs, you pick best available, he tried that with Lias. Considering he had nothing a couple of years ago and beefed up our future D & prospect cupboard, this quick total revamp could not have gone better! When the time comes, cap wise and tradeable depth, he'll pull another Brass Zig or Spoon Strome. The last thing we need right now is push more teens Cs into the fire as saviours. Let's not jump the gun with premature evaluation.
