Last cut, pretty much a coin-flip between him and Suzuki

Oh man that is a stacked team. At this point if there is a world cup eventually, they should make a u23 team for both Canada and US

I know, just assumed the competition would have taken place right now. Gonna take a big hit after 1997s age out, was the 2015 draft ever loaded.

I mean... who on that list is he better than? There's an argument he's better than Suzuki, but I don't think so, and after the playoffs that Suzuki had you definitely go with him over Thomas.

I'm not even saying he's bad. But to this point in his career he hasn't reached the heights of players on this list. Even Suzuki has a more impressive resume at the NHL level, in terms of high end ability to impact their team. He's still got a lot more to give, and I do think he will be a star in the league, but he's rightfully not on this list.

In one season he's become a more important part of his team than Thomas is to his. Also he's got a better playoff track record than Thomas in a third of the games.

Wow. Yeah, never mind the comprehensive, overwhelming statistical evidence, never mind the signifcant role in team successes that dwarf Suzuki/Montreal this season. Never mind the wide degree of difficulty gulf in becoming "a more important part of this team".

None so blind...

So where is this comprehensive, overwhelming statistical evidence? Because as far as I can see they're pretty similar.

Let's begin with the obvious

Points per 60 5v5

Thomas 2.15 (behind only O'Reilly on STL over the past two seasons)

Suzuki 1.44 (12th among MTL forwards, below Dale Weise and Jake Evans)

In fact, Thomas' 5v5A/60 is higher than Suzuki's 5v5P/60. And his 5v5P/60 last season was higher than: Aho, Matthews, Marner, Svech, Konecny, Barzal, Barkov, Scheifele... you get the idea.

On top of all that, Suzuki's most common linemates were Domi, Armia and Lehkonen. Who has been far and away Thomas' most common linemate? Bozak. Next most common? Maroon.

Do I even need to continue? Because I can. But seriously, there's not even a debate here, sir. For realsies.
