Panthers aren’t helping Tampa unless they give up something of value. Easy pass from them

If I'm Buffalo, rather than taking on 4x5M of Johnson's age 30 years, I'd offer Cirelli 4x4.3M and send the 2nd rd pick to TB if they don't match. In general if GM's with the cap space and picks for offer sheets the three RFA's from Tampa don't make the offer sheets they're idiots.

Johnson and Gourde don't waive, and the sweetener's would have to be bigger imo

I think both of those trades are more than fair.

I also think both are fair and realistic .. maybe a little less for Tampa but in ballpark.

And 100% TJ and Gourde take it .. when will fans here realize COVID and flat caps are making NTCs virtually worthless

You are about 2 million shy on each important RFA contract, even with the short term contract idea.

Buffalo did not take Johnson’s contract when they could’ve had it for free. Why would they give up anything worthwhile to get him now?

Buffalo cannot afford Johnson's contract. This is a nonstarter unless we're sending money your way (which doesn't work for you) or you seriously, seriously make it worth our while.

And what do you do when Cirelli says “lol no” to your offer and hangs up?

This post above has him at 1x3.5M, so 4x4.3M is better than that, no? In real life, typically it's the agents talking and they don't just hang up. This laugh & hang-up thing is a misnomer where people act like contract negotiations work like sports take radio.

Cirelli is an RFA, not a UFA. A 3-4 year deal for him is ideal because it provides some security and still allows him to reach UFA at a young enough age to cash in hopefully when the cap is starting to go up again. I don't think that his value in flat cap is in the 6M range, so 4.3 isn't so low.
