Pens need a 3C

Created by: CHUG
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 25, 2020
Published: Oct. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team looks completely different with Haula as the third line center. Without him there is no scoring touch in the bottom six and unless some people way outplay expectations, the pens aren't a legit contender. Adding him makes the third line a real threat to score and pushes the Blueger line into a true checking line role that is not needed to score like they were last year. Plus if they can accrue some cap space throughout the season, they can look to fill the hole at 3 RW at the deadline if they can't find a player internally.
The point is, would you rather be going into this season with Mark Jankowski (7points in 56 games) or Erik Haula (24points in 48 games) as your 3rd line center.

The Riikola trade isn't necessary, just thought he deserves an opportunity to play in NHL games and might get that in New jersey. Could be somewhere else or they could keep him as well.

Lol, maybe LW, center might be too much defensive responsibility.

That’s what that new BR article says right? That Haula is narrowing it down b/ween 5 teams and the Pens are 1. That he has circled the Pens as one of the better fits and best opportunities. And it says the same as your money situation. They have to put Sceviour’s contract in the minors and put Z.A.R on LTIR when the season starts to bring up depth. Or trade Riikoli.

Not all 3 though man..lol. U still have 900k cap space. and when they bring Z.A.R off the LTIR and drop a player down, they will still have 800k or so.

Keep Riikola and drop P-O Joseph down. It will still leave around 600k cap space.

Yeah, I said why I traded Riikola in the description. I just hope they can offer Haula enough money to compete with the other bidders

I guess u read that article this morning as well..lol.

I agree, I hope so too. I’m not holding my breath though. I actually really like the Janko signing as a 3rd line Center. My only problem is if Sid or Malkin get hurt. Jankowski is a big two-way center. Not a play-making or elite scoring Center. Not a 1st or 2nd line Center. We would have to put McCann there if either got hurt. And they want McCann on the wing. And I agree. He’s more of just a scorer. A really good shot. Not a play-maker. He’s a scorer.

And yes, the Pens organization thinks highly of him. Think he’s eventually a top 4 D. That’s why they gave him that contract this off season. That 1.1M for 2 years. It was a reward.

I like the idea and have liked this for a while. Don't see Sceviour in your list. I think he and Riikola get traded or demoted somehow.
Would also like to see Grabner picked up on the cheap. I think a line with Haula and Grabner would be loads of speed.
