Its gonna take a lot more than that I think. Gotta add Buch at least probably. And switch Rykov with a better prospect. Idk if that cuts it for them

Personally, its not a trade Id make. If I was to make a trade package that big it would be for something like Monahan and Hanafin.

Laine isn’t worth more than that. People seem to think he is comparable to Eichel/Matthews/Kane/MacK.. his ceiling was much higher but he has done a great job of showing his real value the last few seasons. I’ll keep Strome who is actually improving, Deangelo who will likely score 20G as a D man. The late 1st will help with depth 5 years from now. While Laine won’t come close to making us better. Now if we had more C, and needed a winger then I would consider it

Im not sure if theres any plans to keep DeAngelo with the Rangers beyond the 2 years he signed for, but if he keeps up the scoring I sure hope we can flip him for a legit center.

Ya, another 1C or solid 2C would be a good acquisition to fill the main gap. We have D coming up which should fill some back end gaps. Too much on the wings also. Fingers crossed that Strome is finally developing into what he was supposed to be..

Even if its fools gold. People want to talk crap about Strome's production with Panarin. Heres my question to those people...

Strome was on pace for 70pts as a second line center with Panarin, how much more scoring/whats the expectation for a second line center/someone centering Panarin that isnt a bonafide superstar?

I mean, I’m happy enough with the roster and Strome as 2C given that we have so much skill everywhere else. Most team have 2 superstars up the middle so I think that’s what the pipe dream is.. but his play reminds me of Callahan, nothing flashy, just consistent, composure, safe and smart plays. Ideally I would focus on getting a Muzzin or Ekholm to play on the back end. Miller and Lundkvist coming up next year or late this year is nice. Deangelo likely on the left of Trouba since his side is irrelevant.

70pts from a 2C is really all you can ask for. The down side to Strome is his defense and back checking. Everyone wants the "sexy" headliners and names but sometimes just gotta be happy with what ya got especially when theyre not a total waste.

I agree. If we could move Smith and get Ekholm I would be happy. Easier to build up the back end than to slightly upgrade a 2C.
