Description
Just off the cuff, reversing some bad moves. No way to move Murray unfortunately. He better return to form or that contract is ___! Anyway, some silly things I did I thought were fun. Give players a chance to return to form and also make the team good enough to be attractive for free agents next off season, which is when the team should start being a contender. Maybe buyout Eriksson next year if need the money. What you guys think of the Klefbom White trade? It is a bit crazy but Klefbom isn't going to be playing this year most likely and EDM needs cap space and secondary scoring.

Even being damaged goods I wouldn’t consider moving klef if there’s any chance of returning to form he’s a keeper. Without klef in the lineup that makes it very hard to consider moving larsson.

Easy no from Vancouver. Ottawa would need to give significant sweetner for Vancouver to take Zaitsev.

Not really a concern wrt the other moves. I don't care who plays on the 4th line.

More salary retained? He is an acceptable bottom pairing D. Eriksson can't even play anymore..

I must be higher on White than I should be. I think he is great with potential. But yes, Klef is special and if they can get any years outa him at $4.1M it'd be worth it to keep him. I just think with his injury there is a slight possibility that EDM might consider a move if it makes them better right now. I probably don't have the right deal in place but I think there might be something there.

You'll never be able to make Zaitsev for Eriksson work because Vancouver fans think it's a dump versus dump, when it's actually a dump versus overpaid. If you retain some of Zaitsev's salary to make him less overpaid, they have to include a major piece to unload Eriksson. It's just not a workable trade.

Ottawa doesn't have very much experience on the back end. If you go through each defenders actual NHL games played, they are seriously lacking.

NHL games played, regular season and playoffs, total
535 Gudbranson
299 Zaitsev
205 Chabot
204 Reilly
95 Brown
76 Jaros
62 Lajoie
43 Wolanin
33 Brannstrom
0 Zub

Trading Gudbranson and Zaitsev removes Ottawa's two most experienced defenders (not best). Bringing back Klefbom and Larsson would be huge, but unlikely, Edm couldn't trade both. They also signed Turris and brought back Puljujarvi, so White isn't a high priority acquisition for them. You're selling low on White and Balcers.

Roope Hintz is interesting. Nick Paul is an NHL player now, bottom6 winger who can sub in at 4th line centre for short periods. 2nd round pick is a decent pick, since Hintz is a 2nd round pick. It looks fair, on the surface, but I don't know how Dallas fans feel about Hintz. Ottawa has Balcers who I think is going to have a good season. I don't want to predict who will be better between Hintz and Balcers, but they are both left shot scoring wingers. Hintz was drafted much earlier, but Balcers has progressed really well.

I keep Paul and the pick since the team has an abundance of left shot wingers.

Not true. He can play. He is a decent bottom six player and a good penalty killer.

Dallas declines. Hintz is to valuable to Dallas for that package. Especially with Seguin out most of the year, Hintz will be the #1 C
