How the penguins will actually have a shot at the cup this year

Created by: zRxstrictxd_88
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 25, 2020
Published: Oct. 25, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Explaination for each trade/Free agent signing
Blackwood: he did really good for a really bad team last season and I don’t really have that much trust in Tristan jarry (I think he’s overrated)

Haula: I feel like he’d be a great 3rd line center for the penguins (the best since nick banana)

Hoffman: He can put up around 30 goals a season and I like having a goal scorer on a 3rd line.

Kempe: (the younger Carl hagelin) he brings speed to the lineup and he’s got the flow.

Trade with Detroit: basically a cap dump to remove one of the terrible trades Rutherford made as GM (Bobby Ryan can be a good 4th liner and Zetterberg will be put on Long term injured reserve. Detroit gets a solid prospect in return as well

Trade with NYR: Letang is getting up there in age and I also wanted to clear some cap space to basically rearrange the defensive pairings. Deangelo is underrated in my opinion and is a really good top 4 d man

Defensive free agent signings: basically I got guys who I thought would work out playing together and I really don’t like Pittsburgh current defensive pairings so I changed them up completely

Other: I kept petterson because I like his style of play, and I put Marino on the 3rd pairing as an option to move up in case of an injury or underperformance.

Extra: don’t have

The Rangers laugh histerically at your offer.

No only can they not afford nor want an ancient Letang, youre making them retain money on DeAngelo? LMAO!

That’s going to be a no on Matheson. No one in their right mind would take him on. You’re talking 6 more years and a backloaded contract. He hasn’t been right since the EP incident.

Anthony Deangelo is nowhere near Letang, and they also throw in one of the best defensive dmen in the league? LMAO

Sorry but unless the Pens are retaining all but .735 Mil of Tanev's contract Montreal doesn't have the cap space.

9 new faces. Lots of egos too. I’m thinking this line up actually fails even though it looks great on paper.

No need to exaggerate/distort minor elements here

Letang at 33 still an All Star level scorer who drives play well. Does all the quality things he does. They'd naturally appreciate his intangibles and experience.

700k retention is pretty minor and they get an entire extra quality asset for it I mean... pretty good deal, one could easily argue it's lopsided the other way

NYR would cherish veteran quality right now greatly

Most here agree AdeA ~= value to Doumy meanwhile

It's really baffling that you've implied NJ with their over 10M$ in cap space wouldn't match a 4M$ offer for one of easily the most key parts of their franchise

All due respect but please don't waste people's time

Just gets to a point where it's like, wow, come on now

Takes a minute to research that they lack young Gs

Crawford at 35 is just a quality short term backup

I agree but I think the value is pretty good for both teams. Deangelo is around 10 years younger and would be a really good offensive top 4 d man

I’ll just give him $15M so they won’t match

Well yea for sure. Wow, lol. However, I think Letangs cap hit would still not work for the Rangers. They would have had to be compliant with cap and bonuses.
