Bear will be in the $4 million range just like R. Andersson and M. Pettersson.

Andersson signed a long term contract with the team paying for what he could be. Pettersson signed a 1 year contract for cheap so he could prove he can continue to be the same player. $2.5M for 1 year isn’t bad for Bear. Especially considering how bad it’s been for RFAs without Arb. rights this year.

Speaking of Pettersson new deal...heck Dumoulin also of the Pens signed for the $4 mill range.

Bear is coming off an ELC, Holland has control. If Bear doesn't like the offer, he doesn't play. It's not how any fan would like to see things turn out, but it is what it is. The situation this off season is something neither the player nor the GM wants.

lol Bear is getting like ~1Mx1 or 2M or under for 2 years. You clearly have no idea how Holland rolls with his RFAs especially ones with no Arb rights.

$4 + if they wanted to settle long term.

Short term, yes I agree.

Roll the dice and sign him long term would be what I do, remember Nurse and Tony DeAngelo bridge contracts >? Short term relieve ended up causing long term pain.

Pettersson signed a 5 year deal, not a 1 year. Check your facts next time. If you're gonna use those 2 as comparables, Bear gets more term and more money.

Yeah, but he was on his 3rd contract and was coming off being the team’s #1 defenseman for the Stanley Cup champions in the playoffs.

Edit: And there also wasn’t a global recession happening.

I literally said:
“Pettersson signed a 1 year contract for cheap so he could prove he can continue to be the same player.”

Which is what he did.

THEN after that he signed his next contract, and got more money.

Please check your facts next time.

Exactly. Not to mention the fact that RFAs without arb. are getting even less than usual this year.

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's ripping off RFA's with no arb rights

It's a post Covid world now. Bear gets closer to Dermot money 900,000 rather than 4m. How many people thought UFA Hall was getting 9.5m X 7....and he gets "just". 8m X 1.

Lol. You said he signed a 1 year deal when he signed a 5 year deal. When he signed his 1 year he was nothing. But somehow you try to chirp me? Lol ok.

Dude, look it up. Coming off his ELC (which is where Bear is right now) Pettersson signed a 1-year, $874,125 deal. The guy even provided a link for you.

Russell
20-21: $4M
21-22: $1.25M

My guess for Bear:
20-21: $1.25M
21-22: $4M (with term)

It's cap neutral for Holland and remunerates Ethan fairly. Win-win.

Considering AA had just came off a pro-rated 19 goals and 38 points at just 23 years old, he got ripped off for 3M
