I don’t think Holl will be traded. I think one of Engvall, Campbell or Kerfoot gets traded if the leafs trade anyone

Yes he should be. Liljegren can take his spot soon, and Lehtonen should be (SHOULD BE) better than Holl, making him Expendable IMO. Holl is only good when played with muzzin, which means he needs a crutch. What good is a dman when he needs his partner 24/7? Holl is a pylon if muzzin gets hurt!

The only way the trade Holl is if the Leafs are able to bring in another top RD to play with Muzzin, take your pick whoever you like. Otherwise, why would a team known for being bad at defense mess with their only good defensive pairing? Why would a team with no other NHL quality right-handers get rid of their only good right hander? Holl was essentially a rookie last year, despite being an on and off bench player for two years before that.

Justin Holl played some of the hardest minutes in the NHL last year. On ice stats:

51.8% puck possession rating
52.34% of the total shots
51.56% of the total goals
53% expected-goals
53% of the total scoring chances
51. 71% of the total dangerous chances.

A major criticism of Holl is that he was carried by Muzzin. The guy is awesome and he basically makes anyone he plays with better. There is no shame in being better because you played with Muzzin.

Depends. If they upgrade, sure, if not, then no. Doesn't make sense to trade a cheap top 4 option with term for scraps and potentially make the team worse.

i agree tbh. Holl just sucks. Put dermott there he'll probably do the same with "muzzin protection". But he's young so he'll get better and wont need "muzzin protection" soon.

There is no sense trading anyone before the Leafs' can see how players fit in camp. But honestly, I think if the Leafs' end up trading Holl they will be adding a pick, not getting one.

It might be nice. But he's the most likely partner for Muzzin. So I think the roster is set, no more trade (expect may Engvall).

I agree. I do think that Holl is expendable on paper, but we haven't seen Lehtonen play a single game in North America yet. Injuries are likely to happen so I think it's a good approach to have more D depth this year and allow for some healthy competition to see who wins the minutes. Holl finally got consistent playing time last year and i'd say his growth was quite impressive. I acknowledge the argument regarding Muzzin being his crutch but at $2m cap hit I don't think they need to give him away for cap space. Engvall or Kerfoot's spots in the lineup would be easier to fill with any of the other depths players at this point than a D spot would be.

Refreshing, This pretty much sums up my opinion on Holl as well. He gets overrated by alot of leaf fans because Muzzin carried him. The truth is he's a 3rd pair d on most other teams making 2mill and doesn't really have one outstanding trait. I agree we should move him but I don't see teams lining up to trade for him.

I would like to see holl traded because idk who sits rn. Maybe next season is different with extended rosters and I don’t think they need to for salary cap reasons but still.

Rielly Brodie Muzzin are locks
Dermott Lehtonen Bogosion Holl (One of them doesn’t make it)

All 3 just signed new contracts and I don’t think they signed to sit. Maybe dermott but I prefer him to holl. Plus they have sandin and lilegren with both their elcs started if I rmbr correctly
