Description

Back in 2005, a 24 year old Dany Heatley asked for a trade from the Thrashers and was dealt to the Senators for 27 year old Marian Hossa and a second pairing stay at home D man Greg de Vries to fill the talent gap.
Two years prior, Heatley posted 41-48-89 in 77 games (he was injured in the same car crash that killed his teammate Dan Synder), where Hossa posted 36--46-82 in 81 games. Heatley was at that time seen as one of the best goal scorers in the game, where as Hossa was one of the best two way forwards capable of putting up big numbers.
The similarities between Laine and Heatley are obvious, although he hasnt straight up asked for a trade his agent spoke for him with a suggested deal being "beneficial" for both sides.

The only one that the Jets would consider would be the Ottawa deal if it was adjusted a bit.

To which the sens would never consider - a gritty and high potential top6 forward and one of their best prospects (Norris) and another blue chip prospect (Batherson). I don’t think that fits the sens goal (losing two players who could be top line players both having top center/rw potential)

Norris is pegged as their top center they hope for the future as he killed the AHL

That is quite possibly OTTs future first/2nd line

OTT declines this trade in a heartbeat.

I think something could be arranged with Norris+Batherson+Picks for Laine+CapDump, but this is just so far off.
