Shaking it up without a trade

Created by: NeverEndingMisery
Team: 2020-21 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 26, 2020
Published: Oct. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Absolutely can not go into next season with the same top 6 and a huge trade doesn't seem to be coming.
This leaves the only option to shake up the lines.
This gives them a legit top line and 2 very solid middle 6 lines

Lindholm is not a center.

He himself says he is a winger, is better on the wing and is more comfortable on the wing.

Fellow Flames fans, get is through your thick ****ing skulls already, Lindholm is a RW

I'd like to see where he has ever stated that haha he's more than capable of playing centre and if it benefits the team you bet your a** they will try him there (just like they did last year)

You're right tho, they should just keep rolling out the same lines as always and expect something to change

Yes, because going with 0 legitimate top 6 RW will benefit the team, right? And I'm sure you can find it, I'm not the only person who has referenced him saying it

Also, they tried him at C, when they tried Backlund at wing, that was an unmitigated failure.

I have seen others, I frankly don't care what you've seen. I've debated with you before, I'm not wasting any more time on you

If you really want to get wild, you could go:

Gaudreau-Backlund-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Bennett-Lindholm
Dube-Monahan-Leivo
Lucic-Ryan-Simon

Really bust out that blender...

I kinda like that! I just really think they should test out something new and I really want to see what an extended period of Gaudreau and Tkachuk together looks like

Are you really that daft? He's saying what people like you want to hear, no more no less. The only way Lindholm plays C is if there is injuries. Ward would have to be a **** sipping moron to move one of our 5 top 6 forwards to the 3rd line to promote a third liner to the first line.

Well you'd have to assume it would be Backlund moving to the 3rd line in an attempt to even out the lines cause for the 1000000th time, rolling out the same lineup is NOT gonna magically ****ing work.

The top line struggled last year but was one of the best in the league the season before. After Backlund moved back to center the 2nd line was exceptional last year. In the bottom 6 we have a ton of new faces and that doesn't even factor in potential development for Mangiapane or Dube. Things are far from as dire as drama queens like you make it out to be.

How'd the playoffs go? (the only thing that really matters at this point)

You mean against one of the best defensive teams in the NHL, that went to the finals, while arguably our best player hurt, rendering us a 1 line team? The playoffs where a couple late comebacks that having Tkachuk could have prevented and could have seen us win in 6? I remember them pretty well actually.

and whats the excuse for the colorado series? I love chuck but saying he wins us the series is not a certain and injuries happen, you cant look past the teams weaknesses because of an injured player (injuries are a massive factor into why they even won the play in round) . Heres a news flash for ya, if the flames want to succeed in the playoffs, they have to be able to beat defensive teams so explain to me how doing nothing changes anything?

Where did I say anything was a certainty? I used the term "could have" for a reason. And Colorado was a completely different set of problems, we backed into the playoffs, while Colorado was charging forward, we weren't able to flip a switch and reach their level.

If you actually think the Flames did nothing, you are even a bigger dimwit than I thought. The Flames made moves to reduce goals against, you do know not allowing a goal is just as good as scoring one, right?

But I'm done wasting my time on you.

Obviously, they made moves lol but none to address their biggest needs.... How can you be so dense and not see that??? Adding Markstrom is huge but moving around some bottom 6 pieces isn't gonna magically solve their issues up front.

And classic, run away when you're losing the debate hahahaha
