Don’t really see a point in this deal from a canes perspective. If u move Gardiner the canes don’t want a defenseman back. I personally still believe in Gardiner, but I also understand moving him so that bean can get in the lineup. Bringing back butcher does neither

Its just to get the money off the books faster, and if bean forces his way in to the top 6 butchers contract is easier to move and hes younger
