IF Montreal is out of the playoff race (Which I do not think they will be at the deadline) this is a pretty solid offer. I just think that Montreal will not only make the playoffs but also that Danault will be extended. Danault has had his worries of playing a third line shutdown role put to bed with the acquisition and extensions of Taffoli and Anderson. Even if he is relegated to the "third line", he will still have wingers with good scoring abilities to play with. He won't have Weal, Peca, Evans, DelaRose, Weise or Thompson as wingers like KK did last year.

I’m not comfortable giving up 3 of our top 4 prospects, a first, and a roster player for a 3c. I understand he’s not just a 3c, but that kind of makes it worse, we all saw the Brassard experiment.

Not only do you lose 4 important figures but also end up with cap casualties. (Tanev + Petey)

So on paper it looks like this

Out: Pettersson (top 4 Dman), Tanev (third liner), ZAR (fourth liner), Legare (potential middle six winger), POJ (potential top 4 Dman), Blomqvist (potential starting goalie), a first round pick

In: Danault, a first, a third, and a 5th

Those ELCs are really valuable to a contender like the pens and now we have to address all sorts of holes through UFA, which means overpaying
