Why would WSH give up on a talented, cost controlled scorer for a guy they dont have a spot for in their lineup. they already have their top 2 RWs in lock positions.

If Mikheyev and Robertson have a good season, there's probably no reason to trade for Vrana.

I kind of agree because of cap (if he were to sign that cheap) but important to note that Nylander plays either LW or RW

I don't understand why you'd trade away Dermott. The more sub-1M quality defensive depth we have, the better. Just look at last season - we had to manage with Muzzin, Rielly, and Ceci (he's no star but was a regular on our D core) being injured.

Nylander for Vrana as basically a one for one next summer when Vrana is an unsigned RFA might give WSH cost certainty. I doubt they throw in a 2nd and a 3rd on that, but I think Nylander and Vrana are pretty close.

There are a couple possible reasons WSH might consider a one for one: if Seattle claims Oshie (the highest scoring NHLer ever from Washington State, where Seattle is) and suddenly WSH isn't so deep at RW, if the Caps decide to trade Kuznetsov and want to try Nylander at 2C, and/or if McMichael works well at 2L and the Caps no longer need Vrana there. I think if any two of those things happen, then Vrana for Nylander is a reasonable conversation next summer. This summer, while Vrana's at half the cap hit, forget it.

Pens hard pass on that. We wouldn’t do Blueger for kerfoot straight up let alone add a 4th.

I agree we shouldn't trade away good cheap depth but this is next year so Dermott will almost assuredly cost more than a mill that is if Seatle doesn't take him.

I'd rather Dermott at 1.75-2.25 mil than Montour at 3.5
