Still no. Those contracts aren’t getting moved without significant compensation.

It was a 2nd for one year of 5.7 so this is 3 years at 6. Gonna take a first a 2nd and Samuelson or Ryan Johnson prob at this point maybe even both. Tough contract

He played 4th line minutes in Buffalo and was tied for 6th with goals and 7th in points on Det. Its not a tough contract. Okposo can still play, just not with Eichel

It's a bad Contract, you can keep it if you think 6M is good on the 4th line. We aren't taking anything less then 1st + 2nd + prospect

In a league that has will have revenue drop due to the covid pandemic and lost of gate revenue, teams will look long and hard and the bottom line. That being said teams will not be taking bad contracts like Okposo and his 6 million a year for 3 more years unless the unload some money going back or get a major sweetener. Wings took on Staal for 4 .5 million but that was for 1 year. I beleive teams and GM's who are smart will look long and hard before taking on contracts that are over 4 million and more than one year. Even with picks and prospects the money is just not there to take on such deals.

Staal’s actual cash for Detroit is his base salary of 3.2M since his 1M signing bonus was paid by the Rangers pre-trade.

He would be bottom six and at 6M that’s bad. That’s also not accounting for the roster spot that would be used in that time for our youngsters like Rasmussen, Veleno, and Berggren getting that spot in the upcoming year or the following which pushes him even further. It would be a different discussion if the term was a year but it’s not and we’ve seen deals like Schmidt and Toews getting shipped out for peanuts because how important cap is right now.

Yeah he would and that Contract is brutal. You're high on him so you can keep him, if not it will cost you the above assets

Okposo, in this COVID cap world, is probably worth around $1.5-2M. I think there could be opportunity to trade him is we retain 50% (making him $3M on the cap) and add in a piece. But then we'd only be getting like $2M in savings because we still would have to replace his roster spot.

I don't think it's realistic to trade him.

Even after draft and free agency, Okposo would easily slot in with Bobby Ryan on the 3rd line, actually would be pretty interesting

Rasmussen and Veleno are both centers and Berggren doesnt even have a contract yet. Veleno is still 1-2 years away

Rasmussen can play both center and wing and I believe his game is better suited as a winger. I also believe he will play in the NHL next season. Berggren not having a contract is irrelevant as he’s currently playing in the SHL and can’t transfer mid season which is why I stated one year or more. The way he’s currently playing it’s not like they’re going to let him just walk either.
