Doesn’t work for Detroit though unless more compensation to take on TJ.

I think they do because they traded a bunch of pieces to go after hall

Honestly if Detroit doesnt fleece tampa then they dont do it. Getting Johnson really doesnt help that much on the ice.

I’m pretty sure trading for him would only give them like 6m for Dubois and I can’t really see them moving all those pieces for another 6 years of McDonough

Columbus isn’t making that trade. We have no need to acquire McDonagh and we need to cap space in the next 2 offseason for Jones and Werenski and others. Plus we’d rather have the RHD to replace Savard and we need scoring.

Schmidt was traded for a 3rd. McDonough has little to no value.

You don’t get rid of tyler Johnson that easy..lol.

Of course it works. It’s all fantasy.

Look at all that return for Ryan Callahan and 6 more years at 6.5M per year..lol. Does CBJ have stock in TB??

Even Marc Staal had a 2nd round pick attached to him and he only has a year left on his contract. Tyler Johnson has 4. I still think Brisebois is going to play the Stamkos LTIR card. Tampa is way too quiet.

Killorn’s all right, he makes a bit much for his production, and he had a career year, so TB is selling high. I’d take him if he wasn’t making so much, but the trade isn’t as horrible as others I’ve seen. Yesterday I would have said Ottawa didn’t have room for him, but they might now, maybe. Stuetzle might be stuck in Europe for the season, but Chlapik could move up, he’s ready. They have the veterans already, so that’s not really an issue, but it doesn’t hurt to have another one. The three years isn’t optimal either.

Ottawa might take it, but I wouldn’t.

Ya, they are gonna have to retain something on Johnson. Atleast 1M. Even then they lose 4M/year instead of nothing. They already put him on waivers and offered him for nothing. For free. No one wanted a 5M 3rd line C-RW in a flat cap year. Even a 1st round pick, they will have to retain. Cause it’s gonna be late round and not that valuable to begin with. And they have no leverage. They can’t bring him back into the locker room after trying to give him away for free. They will have to retain and a 1st or 2nd. Or a prospect.

I can see the Stammer LTIR but u have to wait until the season starts to do that. How would that work?

You have to get as close to the cap as possible by day 1 of the regular season to use all of Stamkos' 8.5 million so Tampa can be 8.5 mil over the Cap.

Ya, but they have to be cap compliant by day 1. So they would have to put players into the AHL and then bring them up to roster after they put Stammers on LTIR?

Yeah LTIR is a bit complicated. The Leafs acquired Horton and Clarkson before last season just so they could fit Marner in. Teams might be allowed to have taxi squads this season if there's no AHL so it'll be interesting to see if teams carry 20 player rosters plus a taxi squad.

Ya, the taxi squad would be like the play-offs taxi squad though. 3-4 players and has nothing to do with the salary cap. They don’t add more to salary cap..? They just let u carry 4 players that can practice with the team. They arnt rostered like a 21st or 23rd player. You have to call them up from the taxi-squad and send a player down to it. No waivers though. Waiver exempt to and from taxi-squad.

I'm not sure how this would work. It's just speculation at this point.

Im sure like the play-off taxi squad did..right?? Lol.

You definitely can’t add money to the salary cap. That’s a CBA and voted on by the players union and owners. U can’t break that.

A Mc Donough trade makes sense for both him and Tampa. He is a HIGHLY productive defensive D leader .. maybe #1 unsung player on Tampa .. does all the "dirty work" .. goes against opponent #1 line, PK, eats minutes .. enables Hedmen to be Hedmen .. and still gets some points but not flashy .. he makes 100% sense with a team like Colorado to help Cup chances OR a team like Rangers or Philly who have good young teams but need D and leadership.. he 30 so should have no problem playing well until 35 like many other D .. Bruins could make sense also but don't see that trade .. I think Mc Donough would go also.. he not really a "Florida guy" ... and if you don't get what that is .. please watch the Cup celebration.. partying fun and women are part.of culture

I think you meant IT WORKS FOR TAMPA BAY, cause this doesn't work for any of the other teams involved.
