They'd pay you. His contract isn't good and he's regressing as a player.

If you offer them a 5th for him they’ll take it

Panik started slow last year, injured. He finished in the best form of his life. 20 even strength points in 36 games, a 45 point pace, just above his career best season of 44. He also kills penalties pretty well, not that SJ needs any help there.

He started last year slow, and most Caps fans decided he was bad at hockey, so most Caps fans would give him away for free. The better move for WSH is to keep him and play him next year at 2R after Seattle likely takes Oshie.

The reason the above might be fair anyway would be if WSH could somehow magically take the cap space/roster spot created by giving Panik away and sign a UFA project or two with the potential to be more than a 45 point player. I'm not privy to UFA negotiations. Just a fan, but I think a 3rd and a 5th and cap space to give a couple of "prove it" contracts to skill players coming off terrible seasons, who think WSH is the team to get their careers back on track.

He got 2 points a game a few times which is a 164 point pace over those games. No Capital has ever gotten 164 points, Ovechkin's best is 112. THAT is how good Panik is. You need to up your offer.

Some people on here value their players this way, I can't tell if you're joking honestly.
