The defensive and goalie pipeline looks pretty solid. Farrance has done well in the NCAA. Del Gaizo and Stastney have both looked good in the NCAA as well. Davies and Allard had solid AHL seasons. Yeryomenko is playing in the KHL currently but he's not doing the best.

Ingram and Askarov both look like solid goaltending prospects. Both of which i think will make it into the NHL and have success. Beyond that is hit or miss but with Saros in the NHL and still quite young that's plenty of a pipeline.

No real high end prospects. Tomasino and Tolvanen are good pieces. Afanasyev needs to work hard on his skating. There's some NHL caliber propsects but nothing that screams top line potential. Some middle 6 potential and some real fringe shots.

Agreed. I'd put it as:

Forward - looks ok --> after Tolvanen, Tomasino, Afanasyev, and Evangelista, I don't really see much potential other than bottom/middle 6

Defense - looks good --> Farrance/Davies should be close to the NHL, not sure Allard will ever find a home in NSH for whatever reason, but there is potential there to fill those 4/5/6 roles throughout this group. No real stars, but there are definitely NHLers in this group.

Goaltending - looks great --> any team that can have two goalies like Askarov and Ingram in their system are doing exceptionally well (though I worry Ingram may be picked up by SEA in the expansion draft - I wonder if the Askarov pick was partially for this reason because Lundell is looking pretty good right now too)

i think Farrance has a chance of becoming a good partner for Fabbro as future 2nd pair and they'll take over as Ellis/Josi age. Davies/Del Gaizo might have a shot at 2nd pairing potential but likely fill out the bottom. Allard/Carrier should be getting 3rd pairing time but due to Boro/Benning signings and Tinordi sitting in as 7th D.

I'm not well versed with Evangelista. I think Pitlick is someone that might end up surprising us.

Agree on Farrance, but I just hope he actually signs...I think Farrance has top 4 potential, but not top 2.

I wanted Davies and Carrier to get looks on the 3rd pair this upcoming season, but with Boro + Benning and Tinordi, you're right, it will definitely be limited if they even do. I think Carrier maxes out as a 3rd pair, PP defenseman. Davies should be a serviceable 3rd pairing guy as well. If NSH loses Ekholm before the expansion draft, it'll be interesting who they put in that spot - Farrance, Davies, etc.

I'm not well versed on Evangelista either, but from what I've seen he could become a 2nd liner - everyone has said it was a really solid pick, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And I like Pitlick a lot actually - but he's already 23 which I hadn't realized until a couple of weeks ago. He really needs to push for the NHL this season and hopefully has a full spot next year. I think he could be a mix of Smith and Sissons -- center that can chip in offensively but is defensively responsible. Hopefully, at least.

Farrance has previous experience playing with Fabbro. Hopefully that connection will help make the decision to sign with us easy for him. I could see ekholm being traded or taken in expansion and Farrance sliding in or BoroCop if absolutely necessary since Fabbro will have some experience under his belt by then.

I really like the depth on LD, but after Fabbro I don't see much to get excited about on the right side. Goal is obviously a strength now, with the addition of Askarov. Like @villenash mentioned Ingram could wind up with SEA. I think that's the pick SEA could make that hurts NSH the most, assuming one of Ekholm or Fabbro aren't left unprotected. Lots of interesting depth among forwards, but aside from Tolvanen, Tomasino, and possibly Afansyev and Evangelista I don't know if any of them have top six upside, I never watched much of Kunin before the trade so I don't know what to expect from him, but given the high price Poile paid I hope he can be more than a 3rd liner. Campbell is a guy who's name doesn't come up much, but I think he might evolve into a sneaky good pick down the road.

@herzausstein @villenash I don't know if either of you have a subscription to The Athletic, but Scott Wheeler had a very nice article about Evangelista today. I didn't know much about him either before. Worth a read, in my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't have The Athletic, but I've been toying with the idea of getting a subscription for probably a year (lol) -- may just bite the bullet on it soon if I can get a deal.

I really only follow hockey and the CFL (good CFL content, but very little of it), but personally I feel it's worth the money. I signed up after Adam Vingan went there, and I couldn't take another Paul Skrbina article, and I don't regret it. They almost always have cheap introductory offers going, and I think you might be able to access a couple articles for free before you commit.

I had a subscription last year but let it lapse. Will probably pick it back up next time they have a good sale on it. Really good quality stuff there
