Stamkos is not a cap dump. The Canadiens would be the one to give up a 1st rounder along with a prospect

Interesting. I've never heard of a cap dump that was in pace for 95 points the previous year. I think you've had at least a gallon of LSD...nothing else would explain this.

Yeah not a Nolan Patrick type injury situation either

Almost half a decade on his deal left as well lol 😅

Definitely unique variables aplenty to his value but

IF we got Stamkos why exactly do we need Malkin? we would line up Suzuki/Stamkos, KK/Danault, KK/Danault, Evans down the middle and Stamkos, Gallagher, Anderson, Armia down the right with Taffoli, Tatar, Poehling and Lehkonen down the left. We would still need to move a bit more salary out but then you move Kulak and call up Belzile and Juulsen as extras.

There's a 1st for everything. When you give all your players NMC/NTC you'll be pushed in a corner sooner or later. The question is does TB want to risk losing Serg,Cirelli to offersheets or do they want to play hardball with a Stamkos trade, considering the guy had ZERO contribution in the cup run?? You don't need LSD to identify TBs conundrum.

Because if you want to seriously win a cup before Price and Weber truly start deteriorating then might as well go all in. Stamkos will be easier to trade in a couple of years when the cap goes up again and he'll have less term, IF we want to trade him. If Malkin still has an impact in 2 yrs when his term is up I'd like to bring him back if he's willing to play 2C-3C and a lower cap hit ofcourse. If that's the case then I'd keep him, trade Stamkos and get a good return and promote Suzuki and KK to 1C/2C.

TB is losing the trade 100% no matter who they trade Stamkos to. That's the price to pay if they want to keep the group that won the cup. And Stamkos wasn't part of it

With Caufield thrown in, the Pens might actually accept this. But let's be honest here, the retaining salary might be the deal breaker here, not Caufield.

It's not like the guy chose to get injured. Nor it's like the guy has negative value whatsoever. No one in their right mind would consider the possibility of paying to move Stamkos, that is just utterly and completely asinine.

You have to take the name out of the equation and just look at it as if they're paying me to dump 7.5 mill. His negative value is his cap hit. Cause they don't need him to win a cup. Alot of teams have an internal cap, and the fewer teams that don't have an internal cap, don't have the cap to fit him. And he's got the NMC that gives him the last word on a trade. In the end that's what is the biggest factor weather this trade happens or not. And I don't think he'd waive his NMC to come to MTL before I get Malkin. Cause in order for him to choose MTL which is Toronto's rival (his hometown) , the chances of him winning the cup in MTL have to be astronomically high, and adding Malkin improve those chances drastically.

While subtracting a $7,5M and a player with NMC should be in favor for TB, it's just stupid to essentially forget who the contract belongs to. It belongs to one of their best players.

Brisebois and Yzerman had built by far the best team in the league to the point he wasn't technically needed on ice to win the cup. Doesn't mean they should move him for free, and even less it means they should pay to move the guy.

If MTL wants Stamkos, it's gonna cost you at least Kotkaniemi+1st. Otherwise you can kiss your chances on a franchise level 1C a goodbye. Stammer will not be used as a cap dump.

FYI the Stamkos cap dump trade isn't something I made up. There's actual discussions in the media on that. And every one of those convos mention that not 1 team will do TB a favor without sweetners added to the deal. This is an anomaly created by the flat cap. Otherwise TB would never be in this situation.

I waste too much time online and I've never seen someone make a suggestion where TB actually has to pay up to move Stamkos.

If there's no market for the guy, then just keep him and move the youngsters. Getting a zero profit is better than a huge minus.
