Robertson wont play in the NHL because the leafs have too many waiver exempt forwards and theres no point of sending them down when they will most likely get claimed off waivers.
Theres isnt a point of playing him on the fourth line and burning a year on his ELC like they did with Sandin and look on what happened another first round exit, now Sandin might not even play in the NHL this year because the leafs have alot of dman.
If there is no OHL then the NHL will probably let players who are on the same boat as Robertson play in the AHL and i believe thats a good way to develop players like Robertson.
The leafs wont have enough cap to have Robertson as a scratch and like i said theres no point of doing that!!!! Let the kid dominate in the minors/Juniors and let him play for USA in the IIHF
Dubas did promise Barabanov to play in the NHL next season because hes NHL ready just like Mikieyev and same with Lehtonen.
doesnt look like there is an ahl either tho, and if there is a non contact OHL than that doesnt help him at all
i heard there will be an ahl but they will travel with the nhl teams for example if the leafs fly out to vancouver to play a game then the marlies will travel to vancouver to play against their affiliate team

ok but not every ahl team is like the marlies where they play in the same city as their nhl affiliate, so that might be tricky
true but idk if this is possible to get robertson to play in the QMJHL... so this way hes playing
Don't think it works like that, but I'm not 100% sure (ie. trading a players rights from OHL to QMJHL)...I think teams can sign players from other leagues in the CHL if they don't have a team, but Robertson's rights would be owned in that league by Peterborough.
I'm surprised they haven't sent him to Europe TBH. There's a few younger guys from NA who have been sent over already. I'd assume though, that he likely gets into the world juniors, and ends up making the big squad. Losing a year on the ELC should be the least of the Leafs concerns when it comes to handling him. I also wouldn't be super concerned about putting guys like Engvall or whoever else through waivers...it's unlikely that they're claimed, and if they are, it's not a huge loss. I'm still shocked that they signed Simmons TBH.
