I think both Samberg and Heinola will be given the chance to become the 2nd and 3rd line LD...If they don't, then yes. Once the season starts and the cap space from Little's LTIR starts counting, we can trade for an est. Dman at TDL.

This is my theory on Chevy's moves.

That’s the issue with LTIR, it’s not free cap space. If we dip into LTIR, we won’t be able to accrue cap space for the deadline.

Its technically free cap space but only once the season starts...we can't use it unless we have enough players to do a "paper transaction" of waiving them/sending them to the AHL to hit the cap max

This could be the plan.

I think Roslovic and Niku get traded for a top 4 Dman that can play the left side (i.e. Weegar, can Risto play the left side?etc.) and Samberg starts the year on the 3rd pair. Heinola stays in Europe because there won't be AHL.

Beaulieu and Forbert are your depth guys and there in case we can't swing a trade. Sbisa goes to the minors and can be an emergency recall with an $800K salary.

If we don't pull off a trade and Samberg/Heinola aren't ready this could be the plan.

That's why Harkins got squeezed on his contract. If you don't sign Roslovic until the 1st day of the season, once Little is on LTIR all we need to do is waive Toninato and we are cap compliant. Once you move Little to LTIR, then sign Roslovic & Niku and recall Toninato. Cap compliance.

Doing it this way keeps us cap compliant with $2,144 to spare.

Rosy needs his camp...if we still have Perreault, we waive him, and all the depth guys to get the 5.3M of Little's contract. We also have a spare 8M for the 10% overage in the off season so it doesnt matter...

Im not sure that Nate Thompson starts the year on the 4th line. He signed for the league minimum to be a depth optoon. A Matt Hendricks 2.0 (although he did play 60 games that one year). I would give Harkins a shot at 4C or move Lowry down to 4C
bottom 6 like this

I agree with mostly everything you said.
I dont think Heinola stays in Europe. He's there now and will be there for months, they'll most likely bring him over to play with the moose (wait...is there an AHL season?)
I agree that Chevvy isnt done and people getting upset about this roster at this point is just dumb. Hes got cards to play and from all reports he's looking at improving this team. Im gonna be patient
