Jesus Tampa gets absurdly fleeced here. They trade the best player and only get a very late 1st and 2nd back? And they are retaining?

We're all profoundly aware of how ridiculously fraught their situation is so it's fair to assume that the underwhelming return is a direct product of that

Your response seems very disingenuous given that

Every AGM naturally has them see a similar outcome

EDIT

Marner by far the best asset here, similar term and production to Stamkos, no injury issues, moving into his prime not away from it... way way better

Klingberg2years $gone 25th 55th
For
Marner5years

That's such a huge win for Dallas it's awesome

Even if Marner is a bit overpaid

Lots of ways to make the cap work

Enjoy 90 points every season

As usual this is well crafted and yeah, man, Tampa may be in the tightest cap situation of all time currently. It'll get ugly for sure. This seems realistic.

Guessing they have a better option available but...

Brisebois paid a 1st rounder for Goodrow so... 😐

Ok so explain to me where the cap space comes from for Dallas then and why they would consider this trade? They are trading out 7.5M (2 contracts) and taking on 11.9M (1 contract), they currently have 1 RFA not signed who happens to be their 2nd line center and only have 4.1M cap space to work with. Even if they just don't sign Hintz they are still over the cap by just taking on Marner's contract alone and now have only a 20 man roster. Dallas just finished 2nd in the league and Klingberg was their 2nd highest producing player with almost a 3rd of Marners contract.

He’s an elite passer but he doesn’t have an NHL shot and he doesn’t have the size yet to drive the net or win board battles. I like Marner but Stamkos has every NHL tool known to man. His only problem is injuries and he hasn’t shown signs of slowing down whenever he comes back from them

another case of Toronto fans thinking only about Toronto. I applaud your creativity at least. but do think every team here loses except toronto. Even Minnesota.

MN only loses because it's stuff they don't have cap or roster room for.

Why does Toronto even get Cogliano? They get him and then trade him? Confusing also unrealistic
