I don’t know what you’re smoking if you think Svech is getting 9 mill on a 2 year deal. Or if you think Dougie is getting a 3 year term

In 3 years the cap should raise. I can't see anyone getting long term deals right now. Svech will get a bridge deal as well as Dougie. I fully beleive they have NHL ready players that are on the AHL roster right now that will be NHL ready by next season. They probably get a trade or a UFA to bring in someone for secondary scoring. But teams win Cups from their system, and the Canes have one of the richest prospect pools in the league. It could be a good time to give them a chance, and stop taking on bad contracts from other teams. Dzingle could absolutely be a strong 2nd line forward who can score 20-25 goals. So can Nino and Trocheck. But getting there is big, and Nino makes more than Teravainen, which is rediculous

I'm not smoking anything. In a normal year with the cap rising, both of these players could definitely command 8-10 million on 5 or 6 year contracts, but I believe they sign for shorter terms while there is a flat cap

Svech wouldnt get more than 6-6.5 mill on a bridge deal.
Hamilton would never settle for that. Plenty of teams would offer him 8 x 9 mill same as Pietrangelo
    villenash liked this.

When you're a mid tier player, sure, I think teams will sit back and wait out the market to offer short term deals (see: Hoffman, Hall, etc., though I wouldn't necessarily say Hall is mid-tier, but is instead banking on a bounce back season). As for the other tier? Just look at guys like Pietrangelo and Krug.

Sure, Svech may get a bridge deal, but Dougie is a UFA after this year...you don't bridge UFA's. He'll be on the open market if he doesn't get a long term deal from Carolina.

Hamilton isn't taking no 3 year deal probably closer to 7 years, And a 2 year bridge deal for Andrei Svechnikov would be closer to $5.5m-$6.0m not $9.0m.

Svech Aav is way to high for a bridge more likely 2x6.5 similar to laine. Hamilton is not taking a short term deal and his money is too high, something like 8x8.5. I saw your argument for a short term deal on Hamilton but petro did have to do that so neither will Hamilton. If Mrázek gets 4.5 I’m done he has done nothing to earn that, canes need to upgrade in net not go backwards which that move does. Also canes probably need to move on from 4th liners like McGinn making over 2 mil, it’s those little overpaid contracts that get you in cap trouble. Finally why resign Dzingel he has not been good at all, the canes need to upgrade there as well
