Description
Even though jackets don’t get a top flight LW in free agency, i really like this lineup. Seems to have really solid balance throughout. Having the potential 3rd line being solid defensively and a scoring line would be huge to bringing more offense to the team.

I think Texier will show good growth and have a Hintz/Gurianov like year, BJORKSTRAND i hope stays healthy and keeps it together for the full season like he can. Dubois is a emerging 1C as well so continued growth would be great for him.

*Gave PLD a 8.2x7, offers him more Money than Hischier since he’s the better player. Given that we have ample cap space now, would be a good time to lock him up long term if possible

I put Jenner on the second line as a guy who can retrieve pucks and shoot well to combine with the playmaker in Domi and the smaller goal scorer in Atkinson.

Like I said before, I think this 3rd line could really have a year. Koivu is older, but he’s a tremendous Faceoff guy and defensive player. Has chemistry with Granlund and i think they’d benefit from the structure in Columbus. Nyquist is the Swiss Army knife that fits anywhere and would be interesting on that line.

I wasn’t too sure about putting the captain on the 4th line, but he’s lost a step or two. Still a good player and brings all the intangibles you’d want out of a hockey player, but i don’t think a top 6 role is suited for his game anymore. Either Grigorenko or Nash could center the line, not sure if Grigorenko will be playing center or not.

Defense is basically status quo from last year, signing a 3rd pair guy like Slater Koekkoek wouldn’t be a bad idea at all though.

Ive been thinking about lines a lot and I go back and forth on Jenner in the top 6. He drove me nuts playing with skill guys last year, but that was in a center role playing defense first.

I love adding granlund. I think he and nyquist can develop amazing chemistry and he can step into a center role when injuries happen. I also think he is the most likely candidate to bounce back to form when on a defense first team. He’ll put up 50 points but play like a shut down guy which will fit perfectly in cbj.

I was originally gonna put Nyquist on the second line but a line of Gus-Domi-Cam and i wasn’t too sure who was gonna be able to go fetch pucks as well, they’re all a bit on the smaller side and even though Domi plays with a bit of an edge, i haven’t seen enough of him to know if he’s a guy capable of that. Jenner had his best stretch on that Wennberg-Vanek line in 2018 before he had to move back to Center, so i think he could play on that second line. Foligno was really the only guy i just couldn’t see on that line at LW. Seems like he’s lost a step or two the past year and crammed 2020-21 schedule won’t help that.

I agree about Granlund, it feels like adding one more complimentary top 6 guy would be huge and there’s the Koivu connection too. Price shouldn’t be prohibitive to sign either. His skillset feels like an excellent fit for this team.
