How on earth does this guy still have a job in the NHL? He shouldn’t be playing in the NHL, and he shouldn’t make more than league minimum.

Why the sharks couldn’t offer this; I’m shocked - good signing but idk why Ottawa “needs” him cause they don’t really

if I was OTT, I'd simply not sign negative value players.

Good signing. He could put up 40+ points.

This is a very worthwhile contract if he plays anything like he did in MIN.

I finally have someone to send back to Montreal each time their fans want to send Byron to Ottawa.

Could be worse, they could have traded for Eriksson. Maybe if they cloned parts of Eriksson with parts of Galchenyuk, they could get, Yakupov.

He can be buried in the AHL if he sucks. If he rebounds, that's a very nice value contract. Good signing.

He's not great but it's a pretty inoffensive contract. Ottawa is likely bottom 10 this season so if he does well it could net them a fourth or something. If he does poorly than they just ride it out for him to go overseas next year.

Don’t understand how people think this is a bad signing. He had one rough year after having 5 consecutive seasons of 40+ points. He started playing better when he got traded to MIN too, Pittsburgh just wasn’t the place for him. He’s only 26. Very tradable contract come the deadline.

There's not much to lose here but there's a lot to win I wager. At best he can replace Duclair. At worst he's going AHL.

Sure, why not? His (underlynig) stats in Minnesota were very decent and he could be a 18G 40P guy. I'm not a fan of him, but this contract won't hurt the Sens

Potential trade chip at next season's deadline. Also very low-risk. I expect at least a slight bounce back. He has good talent offensively. He should be near 15G/35points with his skill level.

Great signing Ottawa. I loved him when he was in Montreal and he is a low risk high reward signing

So what he’s garbage at defense if he puts up 40 points on a team that’s gonna miss the playoffs at least he’ll bring some excitement to the team.
