Decent idea but I think the only way Nashville makes this trade is if they have another trade in place to get a legit 1C for one of their defensemen.

They've got Duchene, they'll be fine. Josi, Ellis and Fabbro aren't going anywhere and Ekholm is going to yield that type of return. As for 2C, Johansson might not kill them for a year or they could bring back Granlund or Haula.

That said, I can't see why Nashville would want Dumba, Benning is one of the better value signings of the offseason and despite a disappointing rookie year, Fabbro still has a lot of upside. That's more why I think this doesn't really work but that's just me

Duchene is not a number 1 center. He'd be a great #2 on a contender. But what I was saying is the value in this deal is pretty good. Only way Nashville trades one of their 2 good but not great centers is if they have a plan in place to get a better center or if they're rebuilding.

If they were able to put a package around Ellis for a 1C (doubtful) this would be a smart secondary move to replace Ellis.
