Love it!! I agree 100%. That would be The Leafs best available line-up.

I think the best bet is to bury Engvall’s contract in the minors(him being waived exempt too). But if they need that extra 125K or whatever it is against the cap when he’s in the AHL, they are gonna have to put him onto waivers and let someone claim him.

If no one took Tyler Johnson for a 5th round pick or even for free. It would be hard getting a 5th round pick for Engvall(1.2M, 4th line forward). Unless Toronto gave up an asset for a team to take him.

Yah the reason no one wanted Tyler Johnson was his contract, idk i guess Engvall fetching a 5th is pretty optimistic but i think there would be teams willing to pay a 6th or 7th on a low risk player like him. He would be an upgrade over several players in the Oilers bottom 6 imo.

And the time it is right now, flat cap year, end of free agency, teams have already spent their money, the draft is over. If it was at the trade deadline, or a different year, not a flat cap, Tyler Johnson’s return would be different. Like I said, even at the trade deadline, this wouldn’t happen. The contract wouldn’t be as big of a issue.

But Engvall is making 1.25M for a 4th line, depth, forward too. When every team already has guys the organization thinks more highly of than Engvall and are definitely cheaper. Most teams rosters are complete too. And like I said, it’s a tough time. Nate Schmitt brought back a 3rd round pick. And Andreas Johnson got Joey Anderson back..lol(but I actually like what I read about Joey Anderson). If Engvall brought back a 7th right now would be amazing..lol. Or bury his contract and try at the trade deadline, I could see a 4-5th then.

Yeah if he makes 1.25M as a 4th liner then Edmonton definitely wants no part in that. I see nothing from his stats that suggests he’s better than any of our bottom 6 forwards anyway.

Right, that’s what I said. They are gonna have to give up Assets for a team to take on Engvall and his 1.2M. Or wait till the trade deadline when teams have more cap space or need an injury replacement. Or a team out of the play-off hunt, but again, The Leafs would have to trade an asset along with Engvall.
