Good deal!! He had one good season so he doesn't deserve anymore until he proves that he is a consistent player and not just a one season wonder.

It’s a good deal - sabres have done well this offseason - good for the player and good for the team trying to clearly transition

But a very good one and it's not too long, nor to expensive for one good season. Similar to Kubalik.

He turned 25 after June 30th so he'll still be 26 when this expires.

I don't see those two as real comps. Victor's season dropped off as the season went along. Kubalik's got better as the season went along. I expect Victor's PP time to drop with Hall now involved. I'm not saying it's a bad signing at all, I just don't think he's as good as a lot of people on here think he is. The most important part is the RFA at the end of the deal.

Nice cheap sophomore deal. Very low risk, plus an RFA expiration

Isn't that depending on when free agency starts?
What if it's in the fall again?

No matter what it’s based on July 1st. It was based on July 1st this year. And there’s a 0% chance the NHL allows the season to go into September 2 years from now.

The NHL needs to finish this season before the Olympics start this year. You’re telling me that the NHL is fine with playing in a time of year where ratings are much lower, and the fact that they’d have an off-season that’s at least 6 months long. So yeah, there’s a 0% chance.

Who said the Olympics are starting on time?
Will there even be an Olympics?

I think your jumping the gun.

No matter what, I think the NHL would rather play a shortened season than still be playing in September. The 20-21 season will end 1.5 months later than usual max. and it’ll be much easier to plan for 21-22, because they’ve already planned the previous season. Even if 20-21 ends in August, 21-22 shouldn’t be delayed any more than a month.
