I think the Holloway, 2022 2nd and Lagesson trade from one of your other posts makes sense value wise. I have no clue what Arizona wants to do though (like if they are even trying to exist as a team anymore in the league), so it is hard to gauge how they would value Kuemper. And, in reality, when was the last time we saw a player drafted so recently traded...Jack Johnson? Even that was over a year later (But before playing). Rare in any case I guess.

Then again, Raanta may be cheaper, and just about as good as Kuemper. If Smith falters mid season, man it would be lovely to see one of those two in Oilers silks ala the Roloson trade. But this time we'd have a legit tandem.

I must be the only one to think kuemper is overrated. I wouldn’t honestly give a first for him let alone a first and Holloway.

If the Coyotes don't make a trade they'll lose one of their goalies to waivers. They aren't in a position to demand top dollar here.

I get nobody is happy about resigning smith but that tandem was decent last year personally I’d forget about upgrading at that position until well after the season gets started. To do anything right now will require sending money out which means a roster player or two I just wouldn’t do

You're right, and honestly, there will be a lot of options. If Smith is terrible in whatever pre-season we have (I think he will be just fine as a 20 games out of 60 goalie personally), we can waive him into retirement and pick up a waived goalie like Hill, Dell, one of Nilsson/Hogberg, or Copely, who will likely all be waived, OR make a trade for Kuemper or Raanta at a reduced price if Hill is someone the Yotes desperately want to keep. Patience will be a virtue, and with Smith we can afford to be patient for a while into the season, and all season if he and Koskinen play well enough.

I just look at what the goalie market was this year and flooded that’s going to cause a similar situation next year plus will be options coming from teams positioning themselves for expansion draft never know who will shake loose but will be options and will be in a time we can financially take on without subtracting or have a better idea of who to subtract. I just think right now things dried up far too much wait for round two

They'd just waive Smith. You can't do a 3 goalie rotation for an entire season.
