Grabner for PK and Rakell

Created by: Oilyboy
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 29, 2020
Published: Oct. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Grabner would do well to at least replace Sheahan's points and time played on PK. Would rather Kahun, Duclair or Granlund, but the cost too much to sign before we can get Klef's full LTIR total day 1, and it it unlikely any of them will have to wait to be a PTO before signing. Grabner can probably be had on a PTO and sign.

Koekkoek on a PTO and sign if he outplays Lagesson, then waive Lagesson if so.

Once Klef is on LTIR, we will have more cap open. Would love to see a big trade to get a scoring LW for McD. Unsure of Rakell's current value, I would have put any trade for him to include a 1st a couple of years ago but he has slumped a little since. I feel Lavoie and a 2nd is pretty good value though. Another option could be to add in Samorukov, but make the pick a much later one or non-existent, depending on how Anaheim would value Samo. Archibald just to offset some cap.

I’d much sooner avoid making any significant trades until after see how this team does to start the year.

The title lead me to believe you traded grabner for PK Subban and Rakell and I was so confused before I clicked it lol

Yep, the Rakell trade idea, like I explain up top, is an idea for after the season starts and Klef can be put on LTIR. If McDavid has another problem finding linemates that can push the scoring of his line into great territory, then perhaps this type of trade happens. I will be so pleased if McD can post decent goal differential numbers with some combo of Ennis, Neal, Kass and Pulju though

I’m not against Neal and jp on mcdavids wings. I liked the look of Neal there last year before getting hurt I felt he was snake bitten more than anything swapping out kass for jp is adding a lot of skill better passer better shooter better vision and better in terms of responsible he’s just not as physical but so be it. If Neal doesn’t work there swap with ennis we got plenty of options to test before making a splash. Sometimes it’s the least suspected guys that work the best who expected maroon to be a 30 goal scorer?

Ehh...don't see ANA being interested in that. Rakell's probably their best trade asset, landing a bottom-6 winger, a prospect equal to 2nd rounder and yet another 2nd would be a disappointing return.

That seems pretty terrible for a Rackell return.

I don't think that Anaheim will be trading any of our first-line players for non-2021 draft picks unless it's a first. And if Kasperi Kapanen is worth a first and a second-round-draft-pick prospect, so is Rickard Rakell.

Fair enough. If McDavid's line is really struggling early on I think a 1st would definitely be worth it.
