Niku would make less than 900K imo...but that's a small point...

I like the trade but just not sure how Calgary is expected to take on $5M in cap?

Islanders can't even afford Killorn, And fat chance of Brisebois trading Sergachev if he deals both Killorn and Johnson. Tampa has nearly $3 million in cap space dealing both Killorn and Johnson gives them $9.5 mil so close to $12.5 mil in cap space way more then enough to bridge Cernak, Cirelli and Sergachev. Plus Coburn and Paquette can be moved for mere pennies.

Here’s my take on this: that’s a bad deal for Tampa.
Tampa should do something like this : (1 move that solves all their issues)

Cirelli or Sergachev + Johnson for an NHL ready top6/top4 ELC guy and a 2nd round pick.

I would think Pionk is more or less equal value and cap hit to Cernak no? So it’s basically Niku 2nd 2nd for Serg

So for example to OTT:

Cirelli and Johnson for

Norris and a 2nd

Something like that?

I think we need Norris so someone else of that level. But that type of trade yes.

Okay cool. You don’t think Cirelli would fill that need? You could have

Tkachuk-Cirelli-Dadonov
Tierney-Johnson-White

Swap out Brown or Galchenyuk and I think you have a pretty young and competent top 6

It's this piece that is devoid of reality.
"Plus Coburn and Paquette can be moved for mere pennies."
who is going to take them?
Paquette is a 4th liner and a dime a dozen. No team needs to trade for a 1.6 million 4th liner.
Coburn is gonna be 36 years old. I don't see many takers there. If anything they don't help, and take one of tb young defense.
The other obvious problem here is, TB is still not the only team looking to dump cap. No one else is fairing any better with better offers.

No one is going to take that deal.
First you are taking on like 10 million salary. Who has that? Like maybe 5 teams right now?
Most of them, if not all, are rebuilding so they aren't going to give up a young player.

It would have to be a D. Lassi Thomson and/or Logan Brown are the ones I’d look to move way before Norris and Brannstrom

Pionk is worth Serg...Cernak is a big defensive Dman... doesn't have as much value as a offensive Dman...so Niku and 2 2nds....but TBL get cap relief

It will take way more to get rid of johnson and Killron won't get traded to the isles since they also have their own cap issues

First of all, after reading 5 pages of TB trades, this is the most original one by a mile. Congrats on actually trying a hockey deal and not just capdumps.

But Pionk isnt worth Serg, because he is one year away from UFA and Serg is under team's control for another 5 years. Way higher ceiling too.

Jets would need to add big value.

You are right, since his birthday is July 29th.

But it doesn't change my point: 5 years of Serg > 2 years of Pionk
