It’s really not an overpay. Vande Sompel is meh. They’re dumping 2 years of 8 mill dollars in salary per year. A 1st and 2nd seems light

He sucks I know that, I didn't get him as a plus he's a minus, to help convince the Isles to give up that much assets.

It would take more than that for us to basically gift them Barzal and Pulock for long term, not to mention that we’re probably done fiddling with the blueline (Chabot/Zaitsev/Brannstrom/Gudbranson/Wolanin/Brown/Reilly/Zub/Lajoie/Jaros are all guys that could play, 10 D is probably enough, adding two more meh guys isn’t gonna happen). I don’t think we’re in the acquire cap dumps business anyway unfortunately, we’re gonna hit the floor so all I see happening now is signing Jaros.

If you're not able to send Zaitsev the other way, I'm not interested in taking cap dumps at this stage. Especially with Boychuk, locking in two of three RD spots for two years on two of the worst Dmen in the league is an absolute non option for Ottawa. I can deal with Zaitsev, or I could deal with Boychuk, but I'm not doing both.
