NSH doesn't consider this. One year of Malkin doesn't get you Ellis, and Pettersson isn't worth a first. Value aside, this doesn't fit their needs either.

Maybe Pettersson isn’t needed by NSH but in what freaking world is a young top 4 Dman with term not worth a late first?????

You might feel more strongly about Pettersson than I do. I think he maxes out as a #4-5 defenseman at best. In NSH he'd be buried on the left side, behind Josi and Ekholm. And seeing as how NSH is looking more like a lottery team than a contender next season, that unprotected 1st they're giving up here might not be that late.

I think the penguins are stuck with letting. He’s certainly not going to boston. I’m guessing Hamilton gets way more from some desperate GM.

I'd rather Malkin over Bergeron 100000% of the time.
