Carolina matches super easily and Montreal never makes that Florida trade. Verhaeghe was a career AHLer till now that every team could have signed.

Carolina has way more cap space next summer then Montreal, Waddell would easily match that and thank Bergevin for another low ball offer.

Seems to me that the Canes have two owners who've lost a ton of money recently squabling over who owes who how much and who's going to ultimately have the keys to this team when it's all said and done...

offer sheet might actually work this time.

Carolina matches immediately, and the Florida trade would end up as one of the worst in NHL history.

And no, we don’t need a left-handed goal scorer. We already have 3 right shot goal scorers, with 1 coming up in Caufield. You can’t have a team with all snipers.

Habs (as well as most teams in the league) would today pay more than 3 first round picks to acquire a player like Svechnikov.

The Drouin trade is ridiculous, he was literally our MVP before getting hurt last season, I'm optimistic he's going to have a really good year if he can stay healthy.

Poehling, Juulsen, and Fleury all sign for NHL minimum salary $750k next off-season.

what % probably would you put on the chances for success of an offer sheet (by any team in the league) for Svechnikov next July 1st (date tbc)?

Doubt it honestly, the media can report whatever they want. At the end of the day, 7M is nothing for a player like Svech and the Canes would lose more money if they didn’t match that. I think Carolina values Svech more than they value Aho so no doubt they match even at 10M

0.001%. If I were the Canes I wouldn’t let Svechnikov go for anything. Although I guess they wouldn’t match if he was given $16 million, which wouldn’t happen.

The Aho sheet offer sheet meant $22mm or something like that over the first 12 months. Svechnikov would likely be more than that. I don't think it would get to that though, I think he's either signed or traded before he becomes a RFA, and more likely the former than the latter. And yeah, for WAY more than $7mm.

Nor would I. Him and Dougie Hamilton would be signed, like, yesterday.

Except Svechnikov would never agree to a front-loaded contract, because it means he’s paying way more escrow and making less money.

The max signing bonus payment would probably be on July 1st 2022 (10% escrow). Way less escrow than it would have been for the 5 previous seasons.

Yes, but that’s a year into his contract, and Svechnikov would be making 4% more of his money if he had his biggest bonus a year later. So if Andrei is signing a contract, he’s going to want his lowest yearly salaries to be in years 1 & 2.

A. we dont have a two owners who have lost a ton of money recently. See Top Golf merger. Tom just added to his net worth.
2. the offer sheet wouldnt ever work
3. I love everyone's obsession with Carolina being cheap despite it being disproven time and time again.
