Description

I suspect the Leafs to carry three goalies, Dell being a healthy scratch, instead of giving him up through waivers. We all know he will be claimed especially at his cap hit, meaning, Hutchinson will become our third string goalie which we do not want.

I'm fairly confused by the Hutch signing as well. Makes me wonder if he's got a trade lined up for Campbell.

So you are going to trade players you need to carry a goalie you don’t?

Also the ltir isn’t there for people who are too lazy to trade players.

@laudan actually nailed it. Hutch is for expansion exposure. That is why it is a 2 year deal.

Carrying an extra goalie is one of the dumbest things a team can do. All it does is take away shots from Andersen and Campbell in practice. The only way I could see them carrying 3 goalies is to give Freddie a rest some times in practice but the Leafs already have David Ayres for days like that. Ayres also doesn’t count against the cap.
