Niku and the 3rd aren't very interesting to Montreal. Habs have 14 picks in 2021 and with Niku, Habs have no room on the right side.

Romanov can step in as the number 1 LD, easily, this year IMO. Edmundson can replace Chiarot.

Chiarot is not a number 1 LD in the NHL. His analytics are dreadful with Weber and he doesn't fit in the future. He had a small sample size of luck in the "playoffs"

You are the embodiment of overhyping prospects. Romanov could a 1LD someday but he's not going to be a 1LD at the start of this season and Edmundson most certainly isn't a 1LD. Chiarot can play 1LD this season and then be traded next offseason if Romanov develops into a top pairing D-man and Edmundson isn't taken in the expansion draft then Chiarot can be traded.

Despite being four years older Armia was on pace for 20 goals and 37 points in 71 games this season (had 16G, 14A in 58 GP) while Roslovic had 12 goals and 29 points in 71 games this season. If Armia came with a 3 or 4 year extension to close the gap on team control I think this deal would be fair for both teams.

Some of us, Habs fans on here, aren't quite so ridiculous to be reaching with a Chiarot best LD comment. Please don't judge us all so harshly.

I swear some of these homer fans wouldn't want to trade their peanut vendor because it could disrupt the feng shui of the franchise.

I never called Chiarot a 1LD either I said he can play 1LD. Chiarot most certainly isn't a 1LD in the NHL (he's a 2LD on most teams) but MTL doesn't have anyone that is a better left shot D-man right now so Chiarot is their 1LD.

There's these things called mistakes we all make them. I quoted him on my post and apologized for my mistake and then moved on with life.

Romanov is not even close to being a 1d yet and Chiarot is better than Edmundson but MB wouldn’t trade him since he just acquired him meaning Kulak would be the likeliest left d to be traded. Also how am I biased I’m saying my opinion of Chiarot

Romanov will easily be the no, 1 D by the end of the season or the playoffs. Please, REALIZE what privilege us habs fans are to have this guy.

Chariot and Edmundson will battle for their jobs this season. Depending on who performs, you can expect one of them to be traded to clear cap for an asset this 2021 offseason.

There is no time for Bergevin to waste so expect a completely different team next year.

I know Romanov will be good he just isn’t top pairing good right now. Also yes definitely this season will define who is expendable on defence and most probably gets picked by Seattle or traded since imo Petry, Weber, Chiarot, Edmunson, Fleury, Mete, Juulsen and Kulak are all good players

I think one day he will be our 1LD and it could be as early as midseason but until he proves that he can be you have to keep Chiarot and Edmundson. Once he does that we can trade Chiarot or Edmundson
