Description

We've seen over and over similar opening night rosters. This is just for fun and I'm going to jump fence on my earlier opinion and say Holl gets traded. Although I know they can do paper transactions for Lehtonen, Robertson and Barabanov, I think it's kind of a demotivating thing to do to guys who potentially made the team.

I'm also assuming that Lehtonen, Barabonov and Mikheyev dominate at training camp.

Don't take this too seriously it's just to change up the convo a bit.

OTT says no. We do not want Holl.

We have Zaitsev, Gudbranson, Josh Brown and Artem Zub, Jaros, and Thomson. PLUS Brannstrom who keeps insisting he prefers to play the right side and Bernard Docker who'll be coming in next year.

Yep. The only player getting traded to OTT more on this site is Byron from the Canadians. At least you had the decency not to ask for a 3rd rounder. Haha.

I mean OTT has quite a bit of cap room so no surprise people pick there to unload contracts.

It's funny that people will look at another teams cap to help inform their choices but then give ZERO f's about whether or not that team needs that players in any way. Homers.

I don't understand the point of this. I'm really excited by what I have seen/read about Lehtonen, but you just don't know how he will be. Why would you force him into your top4 where he could get exposed defensively (which has been a problem for this team). And on top of that lose Holl for a cap dump, despite knowing that with Muzzin he can play and be serviceable on your top4. Rather run 21 skaters with an extra dman.

Bud in this reality it's a 7th round pick. Any GM would do that just for the sake of asset management. Again he would definitely make thier roster and he costs nothing. Next year if they wanted to make room for thier kids, they could flip him for a bigger return. The only thing with that franchise is that if they hit the floor, maybe they don't want to pay him.

Nope. Don't get me wrong. He's an okay player but if the salary cap is frozen for next season (and maybe more) then a $2M 3rd pairing D man won't be something GMs are jumping at. And the issue isn't about the 7th round pick, it's that he's a 3rd pairing guy who carries $2M cap hit for THREE seasons. Most teams would prefer to pick up a more experienced UFA on a 1 year deal OR give that ice time to an ELC player with top 4 potential to ease him in.

Yeah I dont at all think this will happen and I think Holl is worth more than a 7th easily. I was just messing around with lines to see if there was any discussion about if they would ever consider running something like this. Seems as though I've only attracted comments about a trade that isnt gonna happen anyways. Nylander for sure deserves more minutes.
