Description

Alright a I’ve got 4 basic points outlined here. 1. With no player on LTIR currently the Leafs can begin accruing cap space once the season starts. 2. So let’s imagine that miraculously the Leafs refrain from placing any large salaries on LTIR during the season. 3. As well as they are able to send down a few depth pieces to create marginal space to start the year. 4. On top of that, let’s also assume that Dubas calls several 2-way players up and down on practice/travel days to generate more space throughout the year.

This never crossed my mind. But I think it's an excellent idea. Staal would add more veteran leadership (not that we really need more lol) and he'd be a great 2c.

Buffalo probably could get a better offer for Staal at the TDL to a more desperate team in need of a center. Considering they were 5 points out of the WC at last year TDL they should be even closer in the race this year due to the improvement to the top 6.

Do the leafs really need center depth? I think they'd be better off replacing wingers at the TDL

If the Sabres don't look like a playoff team, I'd accept this. Want Hall as well? Also, If we retain 50% on either could that fetch us a bit more?

If Hall is 50% retained, I'd do Kerfoot, a 1st, and a 2nd for him. Also, ya, it might fetch more for Staal if you retain 50%.

What would you offer for Staal and Hall at 50% for both? $5.625M total for both players.
