Description
Dunn is an interesting player, I think he’s worth this aav and even more, I likely didn’t give him enough money but I figured that he’d maybe take the job security over a shorter term with more aav.

Good thought on what Dunn, may/may not accept on a long term deal in a cap strapped world.

I mean, you’re giving up a 7th round pick to take on a huge d prospect that could be a solid 5-6 guy. You have a **** ton of cap, might as well accumulate some prospects with that space.

I just figured the idea of a 7x4.5m deal might interest someone like Dunn right now. He gets job security while also a fair aav. But I also get if he’d like to take like 2-3 years at 3m and cash in when cap is rising. Idk I think this would be a really solid deal for wpg, makes it hard on St. Louis too, I know they’d likely just move bozak or steen and match but it would cost them a decent amount. Either way this would put St. Louis in a tough spot and help wpgs chances against them.

Detroit doesn’t have a spot for Perreault and Stanley is a dime a dozen prospect regardless of where he was drafted. Just because Detroit has cap space doesn’t mean they need to use it unless it benefits us and this really doesn’t but if something like Torgersson, Samberg, or pick(s) was available that would give a ton more value.

Alright we’ll move Perrault somewhere else with Stanley/Niku/Green. He won’t be too hard to move, we saw Staal who arguably has less of a role than Perreault with a higher aav and real world $ would moved with a second. Jets would have 0 issue moving Perreault. 0 chance they move torgesson or Samberg LOL. Samberg is an NHL ready dman and torgesson actually is a very underrated prospect.

That’s fine if someone has the cap space which is the issue, also Staal’s actual cash is 800k cheaper (3.2M vs 4M) since the NYR paid his signing bonus.

Cap space isn't the issue, it's just roster spots. We already have a ton of our own prospects we need a look at, before bringing in other ones that aren't high end ones. The value is certainly fair, it's just that unless someone is a legit top level player there's just not a fit.
