I'd rather have Tkachuk too.
But it doesn't matter. I honestly think they move Wheeler or Stastny before Laine.
The're old, Laine is young. Simple math.

Statsny has 1 year left so it doesnt matter hes gone after this year. Move Wheeler and play Laine with Scheifele. Everyone is happy lol

Wheeler is a tough move, probably worth more to wpg than most, probably need to gamble on a younger similar caphit. Kinda like a reverse cap dump sort of game, jets would also have to admit to a retool also. I still hate that contract and the loyalty rewards program of Winnipeg over gambling on jets drafted players. I still think if they gamble and over pay laine a year ago and a lot of there problems arent here. Just spitballing but possibly a niku/wheeler for a pulock/Ladd or something crazy like that.

Yeah I doubt Winnipeg considers moving him because he means too much to the team. Maybe a wheeler niku for jvr and sanheim? Add picks if need be.

Ya closer to the value. Interesting times ahead with flat cap and possible internal caps and budgets. I’m a jets fan and want to be optimistic, but I think team headed for a situation where wheeler/scheifele going to need to be moved and a reset with the youth.

I wouldn't move scheifele. Dude's a beast. Even if you do a retook scheifele should be the veteran that leads the new guys. Not to mention the lack of centers for Winnipeg already

Only issue is the resign and walking into a similar issue against Father Time, jets can’t attract ufas, until they win or trend so they can’t afford the age out or lose too much value. They need to sell high and trend lightly, over a team that can afford to have players age out and put up a statue. Just an early unpopular opinion, but the window is closing on the wheeler/scheifele jets, and needs to move onto the laine/helly jets. I just don’t want the prospect of a bubble team and a long rebuild. But ya if there was a guy to play the entire career in Winnipeg and put up a statue would be scheifele

I don't buy the means too much to the team thing.
He's 34 at 8.2 million. If you can move that you do, especially if moving that means you keep Laine who is only 22.
I think the right question was, what does that trade look like. A. a contender, because no rebuilding team is going for a 34 year old. B. probably not a huge return. I think DAL might be a good fit. They would have to work out a little bit of cap, but it could work.

I don't think Wheeler gets moved unless the Jets acquire someone with leadership qualities like Toews. I don't know if WPG has captain material on their roster other than Wheeler right now.
