Can they re-create the magic of their childhood? It's a pretty cheap deal to find out.

If you can pick up a guy like Kahun for this cheap, you do it. No exceptions.

good signing but that's not really what EDM needed. Kahun can't play on a 2nd line

He sure can! He has scoring touch and can hold his own in the possession game. He's not an elite 2LW, but he's good.

Kahun is a good player & a solid Top 9 guy but he is VERY soft & why the Pens moved him.

He was coming off a concussion (Btw it wasn't from a big hit or was it very bad) even Kahun said he felt fine after game.

-Then 2 days later Kahun was cleared to play & practiced the day before. Then the Pens had like 5 Forwards down to injuries & Kahun sat out the next game anyways after being cleared to play.

Pens then had another forward go down for the next game.

-Again, Kahun was cleared to play and decided not to play again, The next day he was traded to BUF

I liked Kahun on the ice, a lot. He must have been a real pill off of the ice though.

This is a decent signing. I'm more confused as to why CHI, PIT, and BUF have ALL passed on this guy. EDM fans, watch out for his defensive play. As a Hawks fan I can tell you that he's a pretty good skater and collected a decent amount of points in his rookie year for the Hawks...I just have concerns that he won't play any defense AT ALL and he takes up a spot that Pool Party might want.

I didn’t even know they played together but those are very good stats for U16 players, I imagine the first stat is games played

For the JP thing I'm not concerned, the Oil were missing a top 9 LW, that is where Kahun will slot. JP will play RW either beside McD or Turris.

Yes it is. Kahun scored 69 goals and 206 points in 31 GP in 2010-11, for instance. Obviously not a great league, but these two clearly had chemistry.

It's pretty normal to hold a guy out of the lineup when a trade is imminent. NJ did the same with Hall, it shouldn't reflect badly on the player at all.

Almost 400 combined points in 30 games, they'll be good together.

I wonder how demoralizing it must have been to be the goalies on those opposing teams lol.

I'd like to see your reasoning behind that opinion because in Chi he had 39.4% time vs Elites and a GF% of 58.6%. In Pittsburgh he had 26% vs elites 54 GF% and 37% vs Middle competition with again 54 GF%. Looks a lot like he can play 2nd line minutes.

It’s not a lot of money, but there’s red flags here. Undrafted, but that’s fine if he’s a late bloomer, but he had a decent D+2 season, and international games, and wasn’t drafted as an overager when he was 20, small red flag.

Signed at age 22 in May of 2018, after he appeared in the Olympics, and seemed to do well. That’s good.

Since then he has been a Chicago Blackhawk, a Pittsburgh Penguin, a Buffalo Sabre, and now an Edmonton Oiler, huge red flag. That’s Galchenyuk movement there.

I’m going to say it’s a good signing, but somethings off with this guy,

Kahun played Juniors with Draisaitl.... and they lit up the league

this is what EDM is trying to replicate.

I'm sad to see Buffalo let him go, especially now what I see he signed for. We gave up a decent amount to get him in a trade to get nothing? Didn't see much of him but he looked good in the small sample size I seen. I think he would be a good on the 2nd or 3rd line in Buffalo. Congrats to the Oilers though, I think you've gotten better with this addition.

This is the kind of information the rest of the leagues fans don't get to hear. Thanks for this!

Anyone who plays with McDavid comes out of it looking good. Remember Ty Rattie?

He put up 9 points in 14 games at the end of 17-18 with McDavid, and a bunch of people were talking about how he was going to play with McDavid in the next season, until he proceeded to end up getting demoted down the lineup. He scored 11 points in 50 games, and was off to the KHL the next year.

So Edmonton’s top 6 is looking like:

Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Puljujärvi
Kahun - Draisaitl - Yamamoto

Not bad, although Kahun & Puljujärvi aren’t sure things.
