IMO i would play Thornton/Spezza/Simmonds together. They are all slow, but they can play the same pace, they are experienced and can play a puck possession game.

I would play Mikheyev at 2 LW and put Robertson, engvall and kerfoot together.

seattle isnt gonna want engvall so keep him out of the lineup

Its not about will they want him or not, 2 Forwards must be exposed and he and Kerfoot are only ones that will meet requirements.

Engvall (and about a million dollars of his cap hit) can be buried in the minors without having to clear waivers. He's going to have to be amazing to make the opening night roster. Ditto for Robertson. I don't think either make the opening night roster.

Their spots are likely taken by Barabanov and Vesey. Because they were recruited. And they were recruited to play in the NHL. If you don't give Barabanov a proper chance to be an impactful NHL player, it will make signing other European players in the future much more difficult.

Also, as I mentioned with Engvall, there are waivers to consider. Vesey is not waiver exempt, and the Leafs are not paying him 900k to sit in the press box.

Injuries happen. Scratches happen. These players will all get a chance. There's no rush to get them to the NHL, and no rush to get Engvall expansion exposed eligible.

Of course this is just my humble opinion.

The rule refers to who you have to expose. 2 forwards must be exposed who are under contract for the next year and played a certain number of games in the previous 1-2 years. Other players will also be exposed, but you have to exposed those players as well.

Right now, Kerfoot has to be exposed. Although I imagine Leafs will fix that somehow if they want to when the time comes.

Don’t think they will expose kerfoot if they don’t have to. They can always make trades to get players to expose.

I doubt Engvall or Robertson make the team for opening night. Both would have to have absolutely stellar performances in training camp and pre-season to displace Vesey, Barabonov or even Anderson, as they were brought here to play for a reason. Dermott will also likely start IN the lineup.

Robertson on the 4th is a waste... and what about Barabanov

Robertson won't be playing on the 4th line as it would just kill his development. Korshkov, Brooks, Vesey, and Barbanov will all likely play 4th line minutes over Robertson.

I think vesey makes the team and they could expose him in the expansion draft along with kerfoot. but if vesey doesnt make it, envall would have to get his games in for exposure or else who are you going to expose on forward?

Mikheyev is definately a top 4 PK guy instead of maybe spezza.

Dermott might push holl in that top 4 spot but it will be a training camp battle.

How many D do they need to expose in the expansion draft 2? if so, dermott or holl. We need to open up a top 6 role for sandin by end of the year or year after.
