So you traded for Akil Thomas, and then didn't even put him in the lineup?

To be fair, as a Kings fan who follows their prospects, Akil isn't ready for the NHL just yet. He'll be getting his first helping of pro experience this year in the AHL.

Also, Nylander is a good player. But he's not worth a likely lottery pick and a good prospect, to me. Kings pass, they're not quite at the spot of their rebuild where they trade for the supplementary piece. That'll be next year or the year after.

I know my fellow Kings adherents are going to howl at me, but here goes:

Make the first top-3 protected, but with the condition that if LA retains it, Toronto gets our 2021 third.

I'm with @Lyle_Bubas -- Nylander is worth his weight in gold, particularly for us (who are weak at RW and on offense generally).

Why? A top-5 pick in 2021 isn't likely to help us in 2021-2022 and probably won't be as valuable as Nylander for the following two years, either. I'd rather have Nylander for those four years.
