The Preds are in a pretty good position capwise, theres no real need for them to break the bank on Duclair. The Hoffman deal I think fits really well for them, but the Duclair deal kind of puts them in a bad spot for next offseason. Theyre better off throwing Tolvanen and seeing if he can hang with Duchene and Hoffman

Duclair better not want that much. Kahun is better, and got 975K.

Not really stealing them when you're paying them more than other teams are offering.

First 37 games: 21G, 9A, 30 pts
Final 29 games: 2G, 8A, 10 pts

Only there because of the one player per team rule, just like Bertuzzi. Marchand/Matthews/one of the three TBL's elite forwards would have made it if not for that stupid rule.

I wouldn’t call the rule stupid, since it guarantees interest from most NHL fans and makes more $. For example in 2018, there was absolutely no reason for me to watch the All-Star Game, since there were no habs players present. And it’s also a positive thing for fans of teams that might be miserably bad to at least see one player on their team accomplish something.

And it’s not like the All-Star Game means anything like the All-Star Team at the end of the year does.

Agreed my point was that it sucks for the players that actually deserve it. At the same time, they can rest couple more days since the bye week is before or after the event.

personally, i don't think Duclair or Hoffman fit with what Poile is trying to do with this offseason (Grit, toughness, responsibility, etc). Would the team perform better this season? Yes. Is it the best thing to do for the team going forward? Idk. The team needs to get younger and having those two signed for multiple years blocks progression paths for some of the younger players.
