Explaining some controversial picks

Kotkaniemi: I’m not saying he’s a bad player, I’m just saying I feel like there’s too much hype around him. He’s definitely Montreal’s 1C of the future, but not sure if I see any 100+ point campaigns in his future.

Doughty: This isn’t to discredit anything he’s done in the past. Doughty is probably top 100 defenseman of all time, has cups, everything you could want. I’ve seen him getting traded for people like Draisaitl, Matthews, Barkov, and the thing is, he’s no longer near that value. Still a useful player, but nowhere near his old play.

Severson: Good guy for the top 4, not worth a 1st+ A level prospect for me.

Buchnevich: As a Ranger fan, this one hurts. Buch is one hell of a player and one of my favorite Rangers, but I feel like he’s not worth what us Rangers fans value him as.

Pettersson: Good Top 4 guy, nothing else.

He’s a close 2nd. I had Buch over him though because Kreids has that speed plus his front net presence. Sure the contract may not be the best, but I wouldn’t want to be on the ice against him.

What's the reasoning on Coleman? If someone pays him $4million+ for his next contract then ok, but what better value could you get at $1.8million with his stats not on ELC? Maybe a few, but not many.

It’s not that he’s bad at hockey, it’s just some view him as a top 5 winger in the league and he isn’t one. I love Marner just as much as leaf fans do, but I just can’t necessarily wrap my head around that.

Maybe, but I see him as a perennial underachiever. He's never lived up to the hype that fans and media set out for him.

Who expect him to do that. plus we have Suzuki so my expectation of him is he’ll be a good 1a or 1b with ~70+ point seasons but that’s my opinion. Hopefully he’s not another Galchenyuk who does good but is hated by coach, media and most fans and eventually crumbles

I don't think Saros is overrated-- more that NSH just has no reason to trade their starting goalie that will make $1.5m next season. Just no need to move him.

Of course hes not a 100pts guy in the making (we agree on that). But he's definitely a 70 pts potential guy
