Also moving Montour for McNabb would be nice

First of all, thanks for you feed back.

I think Buffalo would need to retain, I think Vegas is close to the cap, but regardless, that is a good idea.
If that trade was made, and Buffalo retained, Vegas would need to add a good pick.
The difference between McNabb and Montour is substantial.

You are correct, that is a grossly unfair trade.
But it is not a trade, it is what I wished Adams had done
Does this make sense?

Looks good to me.

Thanks, I think you had a similar post.
Can you imagine how much deeper this team would be?
Deeper at defense, forward and lower cap.
What I like the most is that the fourth line cap hit is more in line with championship teams have.

Larsson said the Sabres never talked to him.

Kahun went to EDM to play with Draisaitl.

IMO, if he was offered a two or three contract with Buffalo for $1,500,000 he would have signed with Buffalo.
I think Adams never wanted to sign him.
IMO that was a huge error.
On the other hand when he gets 25 goals with Draisaitl then he will get even more.

@chloewoj
Thank you.
IMO HUGE error by Adams.
Eakin is not much better if at all, than Larsson and he is nearly an extra $1,000,000 cap hit.
These misses on the depth players add up to significant problems when there are injuries.
If we had to pay extra to get Pouliot, Pysyk and Kahun, they are so much better than Irwin, Davidson and Fogarty, there is absolutely no comparison.
Pysyk has 9 goals last season Irwin and Davidson have 10 goals combined over the last 3 seasons.
This is comparing scrubs, and AHL players to someone who can produce in the NHL.

Whats he gonna say: "He hated Buffalo and he ran when he had the chance because hes sick of losing"

Also never said it was a fact. It was more of a most likely scenario.

Hindsight is 20/20, even when hindsight is only a month or two after things have happened. His 1st round draft pick surprised me, but I like that it shows the organization has faith in Cozens to be our 2nd line center for a long time. Also I didn't like the majority of UFA signings (minus Hall of course) but I do like that they addressed our biggest depth need which was penalty killing. Eakin, Girgensons and Rieder are all very good defensive forwards and a guy like Eakin is usually a 30 point player too. Not a fan of the term for Eakin or Z though. Letting Kahun go was very perplexing but there had to be a reason beyond wanting "cap flexibility", I suspect some sort of character or health issue but that's just speculation. Hopefully Kevyn can address goaltending and perhaps add a left-handed defenseman. We mustn't be quick to forget his acquisition of Staal and his RFA signings of Reinhart and Olofsson, those are all very solid. So far though, I'm pretty happy overall with what Adams has done. Our team has certainly improved.

Very thoughtful.
Nice reflection of my comments, thank you very much.
I could be very wrong, but from what I saw how the Sabres PK and how the Stanley cup teams PK, it was obvious that the Sabres were too passive.
I do not think a change in personnel will fix that if the coaches continue to instruct them to be passive.
I will absolutely accept your assessment as well, as we are only observers and part time amature scouts.
TBH, I had the same concerns about Kahun as he played for 3 teams in his 2 year NHL career.
So again thank you for your very valuable and thoughtful input offering a refreshing and polite point of view.

Ya I never really noticed that Buffalo's PK was very passive until I was watching the playoffs this year and seeing how aggressive other teams were. Hopefully Kruger will adjust his system accordingly. I think the Sabres PK methods go beyond Kruger though. Since 2013-2014, the Sabres have the worst ranked PK with a 78.7%. To me that says that either multiple coaches just really didn't know how to get a good system for PK or that there is someone else in the organization since then that somehow influences the PK. Conspiracy??

Please tell me why you and I could see the problem with the PK but no one else in Buffalo could?
Did you ever see a sports writer make this comment?
Did the coaches explain the players need to be more aggressive?
Are Girgensons and Larsson too large to be quick enough to be more aggressive at chasing the puck?
TBH if Krueger did not fix it last year, what would be the reason he would wait a year?

If I were in charge, and I said this years ago, hire Zenon Konopka to teach these guys how to win faceoffs.
Zenon Konopka 2nd highest lifetime FO% total FO 2,975 wins 1,765 losses 1,210 percentage 59.33%

Also, trade for Bozak, he may even come with a pick, make him the FO specialist, win then get off of the ice.
Probably cannot fit him under the cap with Girgenson and Eakin eating up $4,400,000.
if the Sabres won just 2 more per game, they would have won 49.5%, win those on the PK and who knows.
