what about pastrnaks numbers then? hes been placed with bergeron and marchand since he got here you dont think thats helped him? maybe berg isnt the same offensively as matthews and jt but hes an elite center, nylander is a top 15 rw in the nhl which makes him the 1rw on at least half of the teams if not more, im not here to argue this trade, nor am i here to say nylander is better than pasta cause hes not, but hes a 1st line rw

I think if you look at Pastrnak's arrival you will see a huge jump in Marchand and Bergeron's offensive numbers. I think they allow him more freedom to take chances because they are so defensively sound, but the offense is because of Pastrnak.

they do not get crushed in this deal tears of joy tears of joy tears of joy

The Bruins get Crushed. Absolutely franchise ending.
Rielly no longer under team control vs McAVoy is it alone. Nylander is an upgrade over debrusk, but not worth Kase. Not when both of them cost less and are under team control.
Holl is JAG. plenty of him around. He is fine, but the Bruins have about 9 different versions of him right now.

he is good, but gets advantages matchups because of his teammates

If all of the Leafs players are so good why do you keep losing in the 1st round?

due to toughness and their mindset. I think they did a good job addressing that this offseason.

i see what ur saying but he benefits from them more than they benefit from him, my main point is you can be here all day saying this guy is good because of who he plays with and vice versa

because we had one dimensional depth forwards who didn't score and half of our blue line was made up of either AHL players or forwards masquerading as defenceman (barrie)

As a Bruins fan - It's your terrible, terrible defense. It hasn't gotten better. Brodie is not the answer. Top pairing dmen don't walk away from their career team for 5m. I'd also like to point out not a lot of professional athletes pass out on the ice at 30, so that's not good being it was less than a year ago.

He turns the puck over. A LOT. He is essentially Jake Gardiner. A little better defensively, not as good offensively.

It's not just the defensemen though, it's team D. Not a lot of it. Toughness was never an issue IMO, the Bruins or whoever weren't intimidating the Leafs. I feel like Thornton, Simmonds just make you slower and older...

I think Vesey could be sneaky good. He isn't good enough to carry a line, but he is solid enough to finish and be in the right place when there is talent around him. I could see an easy 20-25 for him.

For me it's about Sandin and Lilliegren - you need one of them to be a stud.... Or use them to trade for one.

Also - never should have signed Tavares - he needs to be traded. Too much money. You were better off with Matthews and Kadri. Robertson looks like he can play too.

I mean, it’s just a laughably bad trade for boston. There’s no mcavoy without Matthews. And since toronto isn’t trading Matthews, i think it’s safe to just move on here.

and while I agree this is a horribly bad trade. It's absolutely laughable that you think McAvoy somehow = Matthews.

Bs dont want to trade Charlie, Leafs don't want to trade Nylander OR Rielly, let alone both.

Lol. This would be the best trade the leafs have made in my life time. They jump at this.

Safe to say Leafs fans don't want to trade with bruins and bruins fans don't want to trade with Leafs. Both have good players, both teams players benefit from playing with good line mates. For the sake of the argument, the value is pretty fair but to the bruins fans with pitchforks and torches, settle down this trade isn't going to happen anyways.

rielly is worth more than debrusk lmao, alot more, like bcarlo just said a d is worth more than a winger, debrusk is a 2nd line winger

? not really. Rielly doesnt play good defense. He isnt really even that much better than krug if at all and we just let him walk... im not trading what could be 7-8 years of debrusk for 2 years of morgan rielly. He has 2 years above 50 points as an offensive dman. you can make an argument for 3 if you project this year but he missed 20 games due to injury so it didnt actually happen.

You said McAvoy starts with Matthews.
Which isn't even remotely true. McAvoy doesn't get you anywhere near Matthews. You'd still be adding.....and a lot.
They aren't even in the same zip code value wise.

nylander is 4th on his team in points with 59 behind matthews marner and tavares. Nylander is 2nd in goals, 5th in assists, 2nd in even strength goals, 2nd in pp goals, 4th in even strength assists, 5th in pp assists.
Pastrnak is 1st on his team in points with 95, first in goals with 48, first in EV goals with 28, 1st in pp goals with 20. 2nd in assists, even strength assists, and 3rd in pp assists.

in terms of what? bergeron is the best 2 way player, marchand is probably the best playmaker at this stage in everyones career but pastrnak is clearly the best offensive player on the team. evidenced by the 48 goal season... Pastrnak isnt as good at defense as bergeron or marchand but hes got a better scoring touch for sure than both of them.

You said McAvoy starts with Matthews.
Which isn't even remotely true. McAvoy doesn't get you anywhere near Matthews. You'd still be adding.....and a lot.
They aren't even in the same zip code value wise.

1. That’s not what i said. I qualified what i said very carefully. Read it.

You have to realize that that these are two different statements. They can both be true. They are not mutually exclusive. One can be true and the other false.
A. The leafs couldn’t get McAvoy without Matthews.
B. McAvoy is equal to Matthews.

I said that A is true. I made no comment about B.

Robertson looks like he can play too.

lot of bad takes imo lol

since I'm doing hw and I don't have time to get into it, I'll just say the Brodie is 53rd in giveaways, Slavin is 59th, Heiskanen is 8th, Klingberg is 15th, Pulock is 27th, Josi (norris winner) is 20th.

Brodie... simply does not give the puck up very often, especially compared to some of his superior counter parts. He's a good defenseman, we'll just have to see how he fits

If Dubas didn't get brodie all people would've been saying is how he didn't address the D. Brodie is a better player than we've ever had on the right side and he played top minutes with Calgary for years and made multiple deep runs
