I think Holland can go after a veteran D on a cheap 1 year deal to stem the bleeding from the Klefbom injury.

Considering the market, I just don't see how Lagesson gets more than his QO (around 800k). For Bear, because we can't be over the cap when Klef goes on LTIR if we want to take full advantage of the extra cap space, I don't really see how the Oil can give Bear the two year deal, especially at a price like that. We'd still need to give him the big extension in two years anyway, I would figure the best plan would be a 1 year deal in the low 1 mil range, and then the long extension next year when we have a lot more cap space and can make resigning decisions on Barrie and Larsson. If your plan was to wait until the start of the season to sign Bear, I think that would be a bad idea. Creates unnecessary strife, and usually players will sit out instead of playing pre-season with no contract.

But we'll see how it plays out. It's just what makes the most sense to me. Also, I think a vet LHD PTO makes a lot of sense, wait to sign them until Klef is on LTIR. Someone like Koekkoek hopefully.

dont the oilers have to make moves to be cap compliant before they are allowed to LTIR Klefbom? Even if they wait to sign Bear and Lagesson after LTIR, money has to be moved out first so they can be cap compliant prior to training camp opening and they can LTIR.

I think if they wait to sign their RFAs once training camp starts, they can be compliant by sending Yamamoto "down to the AHL" since hes waiver exempt. But if they sign noe of their guys then real money has to be moved

They will also have one too many forwards so one has to be waived before the season starts. I think in this example Khaira has been waived, so that's an extra $1M in cap space before Klefbom goes on LTIR.
