2021-2022

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 3, 2020
Published: Nov. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just playing around with a 2021-2022 team. Wanted to resign Hyman and Anderson.

Of course the team will probably look a lot different than this.

Lehtonen contract is obviously super unknown. I assume he will get more if he turns out as good as he could be.

Thoughts?

Wings pass, we aren't taking a bad Contract on a bottom 6 forward and we aren't trading picks. Leafs have to add for us to take this.

Its definitely going to be challenging for the Leafs next season.
    1) Hyman likely gets 5-6 years.
    2) Andersen will either have a great year in which he'll get a raise + 4-5 year term OR he'll have another mediocre year in which the Leafs likely walk.
    3) Barabanov won't re-sign for that.
    4) Justin Holl has to get traded if he isn't going to play.

Those are just my thoughts. Not a criticism of your post.

    Thanks for your reply smile

1 - Yea I think Hyman will be 4-5 years. I don't see him getting 6. Dubas doesn't seem to be giving long contracts to older guys. 4-5 years 4.75-5.25m is what I see.
2 - We will see what happens with Andersen. I could definitely see them moving on from him and going with Campbell and another 2-3m type of young guy. Roll a 1A + 1B for cheap.
3 - I don't see a big role for Barabanov this year. So I gave him this contract based on him being a small part of this team this year. Money has dried up for bottom of the roster guys. If he outperforms this, then he will go to UFA.
4 - Holl could definitely be traded also. We will see what happens!

If Lethonen plays well enough to be top-4 on his offside there is no chance the Leafs' will be able to afford to re-sign him. If Lehtonen does not play well enough to be top-4 on his offside there is no sense re-signing him.

Sandin and Liljegren will not be a pairing together because they completely suck together, have no NHL experience and are too similar of players. Plus the Leafs' have decided (correctly) that they need more of a presence on the D than just Muzzin. Hence Bogo. There will be another Bogo type player on the team next year.

If Barabanov doesn't get the kind of role he deserves this year, or the kind of role that he could on another team, then there is no way he would consider re-signing.

Kerfoot Dermott > Hyman tho 😐

Keeping those two and trading Hyman even is nifty

Selling "hy" on zach before he hits 30 would be wise

Hyman is much better and more valuable to the team than Dermott and Kerfoot.
