leafs will do kadri for kerfoot 1 for 1, 1m retained on kadri. we'll toss in hutchinson to get the retention

There are 4,250,000 reasons why.

Also, Bear and Jones are ready to step into a top 4 role alongside Nurse and Larsson.
Bouchard will have one more year in the AHL, barring injury to the Oilers' d-corps, and stay there as Barrie is here to take his place on the "3rd" pair.
Lastly, we already have Russel to mentor these kids (and next year once Bouchard breaks through).

It's well meaning, but ultimately the Oilers will for sure decline.

If we swapped Russel and a 5th for Cole then the oilers could have a more experienced vet mentoring them and possibly play with Bouchard if Barry doesn't re-sign
